captin slows old outlaw reacted to Saintly Fish in Boating fails
I used to keep my first boat on a trailer on the drive. My drive is a 30deg slope. Back then before I converted the garage I used to have a 12v lorry winch bolted to the floor with a remote control so I could winch the boat up and down the drive to get it hitched up. Always did this with assistance.
One day I fancied a trip out on my own, so lowered the boat down to the road (I live in a crescent so it’s quiet), I put a choc under only one wheel thinking I’d done both 🤷🏻♂️, anyway I released the winch cable and the jockey wheel moved and the whole boat span 180. It started to roll down the hill heading toward the lounge of the house opposite the end of my road. Luckily to make space I’d moved my car onto the pavement , I just managed to make it to the front of the trailer and divert it to the left where it promptly buried itself into the rear bumper of my Audi . Soon after I gave up trailering and got a pontoon berth!

Don't encourage him. He'll be unbearable if he thinks he's something special... 🙄

Fishing The Ring Of Kerry by Kevin Brain. Was self published and sold through a few local shops, at least ten yrs ago. A wealth of information on marks, tides, tackle and bait!

captin slows old outlaw reacted to GPSguru in Broadband and separate TV
Ok. I understand it better now.
Your existing BB is plenty fast enough for streaming TV. Just like BHP sells cars, but Torque wins races, then BB is the same....... speed sells the BB, but it is the ‘through put’ that decides how effective it us. Generally it is safe to assume your useful ‘through put’ speed is 75 - 85% of the quoted speed. ‘Through put’ is defined as an error free data packet, ie the BER ( Bit Error Rate) in that packet is zero
Now the technical bit ........ modern compressed video and efficient CODEC’s allow this service to operate over a very small bandwidths....... the bandwidths required for normal TV is 3mbs and 5mbs for HD TV.
I think you can get NowTV, or BT TV on a 30 free trial.
My through put is poor due to line noise which BT have chosen to ignore. However, everyday my online business is running the website, Cloud storage, etc, plus films and catchup TV being streamed ...... and the streaming works fine.

captin slows old outlaw reacted to SiDfish in fishing rods
I just love the Daiwa Kensakis. The 10-25lb does most things on its own, lovely soft tip and bends gradually into a lot of power in the butt. Old 12-20 is a lovely, very light, rod but much less power than the modern equivalent. We use Penn Fathom 15s with 40lb spectra braid. I find the 12-20 and 12lb Penn rods (rampage and regiment) too aggressive, they're very tippy and seem to bounce fish off on braid. I have a fair few other rods which are OK (Greys, Ugly Stick, Daiwa) but none stand out like the Kensakis

Its weird how we so often get these giant hail balls. The damage they do runs into millions of dollars and insurance companies mostly don't cover hail damage anymore, so whole car dealerships can end up with costly repairs. We can regularly pick up brand new forecourt cars at 1/4-1/3 new price due to hail damage. Have a google search at some of the videos, its scary stuff when you are in a centre console at sea!!!
