  1. Heading out tomorrow after this bad run of weekend winds scuppering any plans. Seems like an eternity since we were last afloat. Will be heading Nab area, not decided exactly where yet.
  2. Should have added she was returned alive and well, small amount of recovery before a big flap of the wings and she was on her way.
  3. Lovely Huss, one of my favourite fish. Shame we don't see that many round here
  4. It was nearly as deep as his seat box, I struggled to get a picture that shows the scale of it. Put up a good scrap. Caught off of Selsey
  5. Largest fish on my boat so far, over 65lb as it topped my scales out, I've seen a few biggies off the shore and I estimate this one is over 70lb, not caught by me though but the lad I normally fish with he is 5ft 7in. Caught on a mackerel flapper intended for a Tope.
  6. Luckily got an invite on a friends boat Saturday, with the massive tides we opted to have a tester at inner Nab. There were some reports of Unicorns (cod) in the solent but we stuck to the plan expecting the solent to be weedy and a struggle with the size of tide. Quite lumpy when we got to the mark and if the tides were smaller would have run to the solent but hey ho nothing ventured nothing gained. Not much to report really a constant stream of straps, dogs and whiting with a double figure undulate showing on a live whiting being the best fish of the day. Counted over 20 boats out there with a few moving about so guessing the cod did not read the plan. Did hear of a couple appearing in the solent so maybe we made the wrong decision but thats easy to say with hindsight. Didn't bother with pictures mainly because I didn't want to drop the phone in the drink but more importantly we didn't get anything we deemed worthy of a picture, the Ray was released alongside so not bloated and weighed. Calmed nicely just after lunch with a bit of sun coming through but the bites dried up so we sacked it and headed in around 3pm
  7. You weren't far from us, I was out on a friends boat. Lumpy as you say at first, quiet on the fish front with a nice double undulate the notable fish amongst straps and Whiting
  8. It is indeed said model, I can see if people are in and out it would be a pain. I like having the seat across the back of the cabin and the helm position is a trade off for that. Both my usual angling mates usually sit on the bench seat so it's only me in cabin whilst driving hence it doesn't cause us an issue. She is a great sea boat, the day I purchased her the sea trial was a baptism by fire, sailed from Portsmouth to Southampton in a force 7 NW, boat handled it superbly.
  9. The cabin layout is the main reason some people don't like these, We have a helm and bench seat across the back wall. The helm is by the door and this is what some don't like, it doesn't bother me and actually like the fact you can hop out quick when coming alongside. The bit I like about it is as we have a side door there is a bench seat across the back of the cabin which sits 2 large people, I fish 3 on the boat but 2 is really nice as it gives half the boat each There is a small bunk forward of the helm and storage area (I keep my auxiliary there) I have had a kip on it but wouldn't want to overnight. Will try and put some pictures up next time i'm down
  10. The MF is a bit of a marmite boat some love it some hate it, Personally I really like it. They way we fish and travel the helm by the cockpit door doesn't cause a problem and I like the fact it has a bench seat across the back of the cabin. night and day to the 570 which was a good boat.
  11. My Merry Fisher Marlin 6, Sorry I've not got a better picture
  12. Cracking images Andy, I've got a Totalscan which can be pretty good but images are nothing like those
  13. Hi I now own a Merry Fisher Marlin 6
  14. Hi All, My name is Scott, I am based in Fareham and run out of Gosport Marina. Like to fish the usual Solent & Nab areas. Used to do a lot of shore angling but in 2017 purchased my own boat and have not looked back. Haven't fished the beaches since. I owned a Shetland 570 many years ago, so this is my first foray into boating for a good few years.
