Almost finished one side....... Need a better mask! Looked like a yetti when I got out.... Chewed the backing pad up pretty sharp as well.....
Noticed still got some grinding to do along the back, and one small area is a bit this, so will need to build it back up with a few layers

Had a bit of spare time in between doing some bike bits, so fitted the new plugs to the to be aux engine....
Primed pulled a few times, nada.... Then realised hadn't put the switch in the "on" position.... Duh!!
Started 2nd pull, wont keep running tho, so suspect fuel pump. Just ordered a new one from amazon, sub £9!!!
Cheap enough to carry a spare or two
So, with that at the next stage, tackled the Rude 25, or is it a johnson? can't remember.... Anyway, put the right fuel plug on, primed her up, 3rd pull, burbling away like a good un!! Cool, so will look up a new impellor, change the gearbox oil and punt it out....
Was talking to my mate about lifting the boat off the trailer this evening.... Just happened to look up and fuck me, a lifting beam, so now looking at block n tackle, beam trolley etc in readiness. Also now looking for an engine hoist, lifting chains etc.....
    all good stuff
    🤣

Yeah, but I think the point is there are many more that can be used that aren't FC-W registered, your guy there has even mentioned API SG which has been surpassed a long time ago.
Do people that live right beside the sea that may not use their cars that often have to use different oil? No.... And some oils mentioned actually have a quite high molybdenum content that makes it sticky as hell, and coats cams etc for a long time and prevents them rusting....
There are test houses out there that publish analysis results of various oils, that show many specialist oils (FC-W, JASO etc) are identical in every way as the common API spec oil from the same manufacturer.....
I've seen tests showing quicksilver gear oil against a similar common spec oil that was actually worse than the cheapy for anti corrosion.... Also consider there are many engines out there, inboard and outboard, that either were around or their base engine was around before FC-W even existed, yrt you are now expected to stump up extra for "special" oil.
What you have to understand is that oil is big business yet quite a cheap comodity. So any chance they have of making more money through branding and special purpose, they will take it.......
Is there special oil for a drag race engine? No there isnt, and these get a much harder life than an outboard ever will unless you into submerging a running engine!! Using a good quality oil seems far more important than many other factors......
For the doubters, the info is out there, just involves a bit of internet legwork, or don't.... I'm not advocating anyone use anything, as said earler, it's down to whatever they and their wallets are happy with......

suzook12 reacted to JDP in Slow jigging
I mix it up with so many different types but just have a quick search under micro jigs and virtually every manufacture has a some in their range. There are octopus style to small bait fish shapes like the Shimano colt sniper style, the most common are wider in the mid sectioned weighted to flutter on their sides. The black magic flutter jigs have been one of my favourite larger jigs on the bigger pelagic fish and Im sure these would be good on wrecks in the UK, especially the black and lumo colour. Things change rapidly in this style jigs, a few years back Daiwa Pirates were all the rage, There would easily be 100 styles of these kinds lures in my small local tackle store and heaps of Chinese copies on eBay.

As promised got a bit more down today, and remembered the camera! Actually that's a lie, it was still in the truck from yesterday......
Right, so what was achieved? I would say 90% of the gring is done now for the floor. Also managed to work into 3 of the 4 corners that were a pain. Also managed to get the floor "bracing" out as well. More on that in a minute.....

    Now for the fun bit.......
Note all the straight edges! This was part of the floor bracing, that I can only say was pretty much dropped in  and left, apart from about half a dozen tabs!!!
Basically, cut it in half and pulled it out!!....... Grand job eh?
Anyway, the boy had managed to soak himself washing his crosser down from yesterday so that was it...... Better get some sanding discs and backing pads on order and get the hoover out.....
Then make a decision about how it's going to be on the rebuild.......... Got time yet, as got to lift the outboard yet and get all the steel off so we can tackle the transom....

On a good note, the intended aux for this, a Johnson 6hp that bought for not a lot off the bay, the lad had cleaned the carb out and put back together. The other night, we shot some fresh fuel in it (have new adaptor for it now) and after much playing, it started!! Yay.......
Will get round to servicing it a bit at a time, it may want crank seals yet, but will say once the fuel pump is repaired and plugs replaced.
