  1. Likewise, I have a pc30 and love watching the interaction of fish chasing lures. Ive been offered an lsv32 for next to nothing from a friend who recently got the lsv34, having seen the 34 Im considering swapping out my pc30 for one. Which do you have and what depths is it capable of, all the info Im seeing is on shallow water. In saying that even an old hds5 I had years ago would clearly show rigs and fish at depths of around 60m. I never saw that much improvement with lowrance and simrad even when I went to 12in screens, hence why changing to high res Garmin 1900 x 1200 res certainly helps.
  2. Ahh someone fishing, great to see another fishing report.
  3. But you weren't in a kayak, cod will show on sounders if you have them setup right. We were able to pick up sole and plaice trawling the the English channel well over 30yrs ago on old tech koden sounders. Anyone wanting to improve their sounds skills I can highly recommend the Ryan moody courses https://www.fishsmarter.com.au/products/sounder-skills-2/
  4. Looks like it was a great day out there. Why is it hard to pinpoint fish, what sounder and transducer are you using ? Even most entry level sounders should pick up fish pretty well as well and show soft plastics falling to the bottom.
  5. Being able to drop down a gear is always good in my opinion, makes life so easy at times. Another option to dropping down a gear is using a longer after market handle or simply extending to existing handle out to its furthest adjustment hole if it has one. Aftermarket long handles should only be used on reels built with good gearing, this allows for easy cranking but also at higher speeds.
  6. Finished the commercial season two weeks ago and the swell hasn’t backed down enough to make it worth heading out since. The swell has dropped from yesterday when my daughter managed to get out in her zodiac but I’m not as desperate to get out as her!!!!…not much wind though.
  7. Just get two receipts, one you can use to insure it (high) and one for the border crossing (low).
  8. Wind, major flooding and dam cold here, so didn't get out. I have been away commercially fishing for a few weeks though and glad our quota is now filled so I can get back to dangling a line again.
  9. Grabbed a few more savage lures now that they’ve been bought out. Simply to cheap not to, even though a fair amount will be given away. Also rods, reels and clothing are at crazy low prices but in all honesty I didn’t like the look of that stuff even though it was cheap. Unfortunately my bag handle broke 😆
  10. I get out fished, out classed in boat handling which you could say is embarrassing but I would call it more a case of pride when my daughter fishes with me. Same goes for when the wife comes along for the occasional fish, even though that's more a case of doing 90% for her!!!!!! I've given it my best fishing side by side with my daughter and when I still haven't landed a fish and she's got around 10 onboard I know Im outclassed. I suppose fishing everyday of the week helps!!!!
  11. User error on the rod ? where did it break. Sounds like an epic fun trip. Whats the water temp where you were fishing.
  12. Around the IOW I found so many fish in shallow water from snorkeling inshore that it even changed the way I fished from the shore. I rarely used rods longer than 8ft as casting range didn’t need to be far. It makes perfect sense when you see how much bait holds in the shallows. Also marine growth is far more where sunlight can penetrate. My boat allowed me to get to shallow marks that were hard to reach by car and foot. There were of course species I never saw inshore, which could only be found in deep water.
  13. What is it with people seeking fame from doing such stupid things. Give me a cruse ship and no publicity any day. Nutter.
  14. Had a week away skippering commercial boats, looking forward to some recreational chasing tuna this weekend.
  15. Its never an issue posting elsewhere, only seems to happen here but will look into it on my phone. I have seen other posts on here where pictures have flipped, so its not just a down-under thing.
  16. A yellowfin from this boat on the weekend. Test to see if it loads correctly. No, this one has decided to go sideways!!!
  17. Hence why I sent it from my phone, because it allows me to send at lower size. Its the correct way on my phone just like the other image. I also tried uploading several times to see if any would change but each time it turned the trailer upside down.
  18. This is the work boat which is launched most days of the week and like most boats here sits on skids. No idea why it uploads upside down.
  19. Who are you referring to, would imagine most on here are using their boats in the salt. Freshwater's for vegans and windsurfers!!!!
  20. Most trailer boats run on skid trailers these days over here. This was my last trailer which had both skids and rollers. The work boat I skipper is launched almost everyday of the week and has a full skid trailer for quick and easy drive on and off use. We don't use the winch at all, its simply drive on and hitch the winch and safety chain. I'll do a few pics of the work boat trailer next week when Im next in that one.
