    Fair choice

i look forward to this time of year it’s usually right around 24th April ish the swallows come dashing on the pond in the garden … I believe journeyed all the way from africa

Yes, @Andy135almost got it, it definitely is the common Wren that we get in the UK. I knew I had seen it, but just could not remember what it was. It is the thin beak that gives it away. We get them nesting in the garden. That one must have been coming back from its migration.

    Here you go

I’m looking at getting something a bit better than my old garmin gps map to look at the seabed and haven’t got a big budget.

Been looking on FB marketplace and seeing what looks like some good buys.

This took my fancy and wondered what others might think about going down the used route?

Is it worth a gamble? (Please say yes then I can justify it to the missus 👍😬)

    No, contact the saint 😉

What’s the target at the moment if you get out?

Having perused the tidal stream info for the day, which dictate drift direction and speed, it looks like Plaice in the morning and a light hearted attempt at Turbot in the afternoon.

Due to the continual easterlies, this has been my first opportunity to get on the skerries since early March, but it is still going to be a tad lumpy.

So today I mixed up my acid to a recommended strength, took the leg back off and mounted the motor on an old bar stool over a flexi bucket.

I’d already tested the mixture in a jar and used the thermostat as the test bed which, without any agitation cleaned it almost to perfection.

A cheap bilge pump that was obtained from Amazon was rigged up with an array of tubing from the ‘tube bucket’ , wired up with a switch and fuse then connected to a leisure battery for power. The tube was attached to the intake and we went live for 5 hours.

I have to say a thank you to @JDP for showing me the vids from Oz because it was a great way to do it and the results are amazing!

I checked inside the thermostat housing after a flush with fresh water and it is immaculately clean compared to the disgusting state it had been in, so can only assume that the cooling galleries are the same.

On the strength of these results I’m going to do my main engine when I get the chance…. Easy enough over a tide down on the beach.

Excellent work Gary, and its great when a plan comes together.

One of our instruments were lying, I wonder which one ?

The app is designed for marine applications, so I guess the error is a mix of the time interval of requested info from your phone sat receiver, and how it interprets the information.

The app is probably thinking ‘fuck, this is a fast boat’ !

TBH, although I do wear a BB cap a lot, I actually prefer a Breton Fisherman's cap, I have a couple that I purchased when in France, but the genuine article fir very expensive.

Putting feelers out for an interest in OO's branded caps.

I like caps, however, I get a ton of freebies from, Sakuma, Eagle Claw, Trokar, Fin-Nor, and Tronix.

One thing you may need to ask the supplier is about colouring fade due to UV. My Sakuma and Trokar caps only last a season before some of the colour changes, making them look like you have split mild bleach on them.

As the Hounds have arrived, could be worth while making that yearly trip soonish. Two birds and all that..

Have you got your Stormsure tape yet Steve ?

I found some here that was given to me as a sample a long time ago, I assume it will still be Ok (sealed package) and you are welcome to it if you want.

  9. Well done Dicky, maybe not one of your best day's, but at least you got out.

These continual easterly's we have down here are making it very difficult to get out. I badly need a day on the skerries, and there has not been a window since early March.

  10. Well, the Grandson is cursing me for introducing him to 20 yr old dance music, he told me 'Justified and ancient' has been going around his head for days 🤣

He was telling me his mates really like the music and he wanted some more to take on board. I have been told off for turning him into a pill popper 🙄🤣

I know that these will bring back memories for both @Andy135 and @Saintly Fish

Then we have the @JonC music
