  1. Does being a twat come naturally, or do you have to work at it 🙄
  2. Depends which way it drifts ! My boat generally drifts bow first but at a 30 degrees angle to beam. If the wind gets up to F4 then it drifts beam to sea.
  3. During the summer we see a few honwave, small zodiacs, and excels out there, plus the odd yak or two. Both the boats you mention would be fine when motoring, but I am not convinced they would be good at drifting. It is a sand / gravel bank with very deep water on the seaward side and sometimes quite strong currents, so the sea conditions tend to change very quickly. I have seen honwaves etc shipping water and fighting to get closer inshore.
  4. True, but you can launch at dart marina and park you car. We have friends who have a riverside house in Kingswear with a pontoon, but it is actually quicker for me to go by boat from Teignmouth than drive to Dartmouth. It is a 20 (ish) miles trip for me, so 40 - 50 mins depending on sea conditions. Start point is 25nm.
  5. He is probably just a miserable old git in training .
  6. Thanks, but no thanks ! I am not big into birthdays and TBH I would rather not be 70 (feck’in old) and certainly don't want to be reminded of it ! I will probably just go fishing for the day if the weather is in agreement.
  7. True, and I will certainly be happy. There are a few decent Turbot showing, so I am sure we will catch. Dave Mord has been and had a few, but no real size to them. pull’in your leg on the birthday thing (but I will turn 70 very soon) ,because as you know, being immunosuppressed makes mixing more difficult from my perspective. Last year I had a fish of 11lb, but I need to beat that this year. You guys knew about the skerries trip and the plaice ( this time last year) but not the turbot as I use AIS, and I have spent quite a bit of time locating the Turbot habitat !
  8. Well, I am disappointed, As I turn 70 in a few days and nobody organised a charter trip for me 🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 I guess I will just have to put up with a trip to the skerries again targeting Turbot and plaice 🤣 Just waiting for the easterly swell to abate to see if I can get a double like last year 👍
  9. It is on the poster of JDP on your bedroom wall 🤣
  10. Spamming the links everywhere on the internet seems to be successful for some folk. But is the 'toobe ' the way forward ? , maybe tiktok might work better ?

Fixed that for you Jon 🤣

Well yeah, this reel is for big powerful fish that can take a lot of line, so no good to you when fishing for tiddlers, old shoes, and shopping trolley's in the Thames 😉

Lefty multi’s are so alien to me, even though I am a lefty ! some of my family openly think being a lefty should be an automatic qualification for a blue badge, so I am used to having the piss taken.

No, I don't think you can get a spaz handled TLD 🙄🤣😇

Brand new TLD25 unboxed, but brand new and been sat on the reel shelf for 2 years. Any interest ?
  16. My 3 SPJ rods and narrow spool reels owe me the thick end of £2k, but I use them a lot and find it a very enjoyable method of fishing.
  17. For me it is probably 1 in 10, and usually the smaller fish, especially Pollock under 3lb and pout. Even the foul hooked fish are very often hooked in the head or under the chin. Never had a foul hooked bass, they nearly swallow the lure.
  18. Good plan, but remember to check the oil level every trip.
  19. Your minute is probably closer to 5 ! .......... to get 25 wraps will be at least 25 - 30 seconds I always said I could tie a bobbin knot in 30 secs, but timed it was 2 mins. I always said a Yucatan knot was quick, but timed it was a little over a minute. Anyway, it matters little, the whole point is that we tie the knot that suits us best and a knot that each of us have confidence in.
  20. Look at the vid below from about 3:30 onwards, at 3:36 the guy uses a tad of tension to the tip of the bobbin with the index finger to ensure the bobbin reverses direction, which is exactly how I do it. Generally, I use my right hand for that to happen. A PR bobbin knot can be tied in less than 2 minutes on the boat, how long does it take to tie a FG knot on a rocking boat ?
  21. Sausage fingers in my phone ! 👍🤣😇🤣
  22. ‘Take a still’ or is your ability to read, not that good 🤣🤣🤣
  23. A still doesnt have music 🙄 That is why I am an engineer and you are a twat 🤣
  24. I will never go back to mono, purely because of the stretch ( even co polymer is 12% ish). Bite detection and lure control is just so much better and easier with almost zero stretch braid.
