  1. About 20ft of water then, some places in the estuary go to well over 100ft.
  2. Those are summer Flounder, also nick named as Fluke. We have the European flounder here which is a much smaller species, Summer Flounder = Paralichthys dentatus European Flounder = Platichthys flesus Also, Halibut are part of the Flounder family = Hippoglossus stenolepis Interestingly, there are 8species of Flounder if you include the little known Flowery flounder which is only found in Hawaii. The Summer Flounder grows pretty big, the rod caught record is about 27lb.
  3. Yes, pretty much all of the Turbo’s we catch on the banks are 5lb - 10lb, although plenty of fish in the high 20’s have been caught over the years that I can remember. The skerries banks still hold the record at 33lb.
  4. I don't think that I have ever caught a non keeper, but we don't get as many on the skerries as you guy’s get on the shambles.
  5. Did you count the jig time to the bottom ? There is sone very deep water in Fowey.
  6. Excellent Mike, yes Turbo’s are good to catch and put up a good scrap. I am sure @JonC will be along later to advise you on the best methods 🙄
  7. That is what I like about slow jigs, you never know what is going to grab the jig, whereas soft plastics and hard lures are more predictable with results.
  8. Especially if you are an Essex inbred and illiterate ...........🙄😛
  9. It was on its own pontoon, but when the fire took hold it broke its moorings as the ropes burnt through. Luckily, it just drifted across the to harbour pier wall, where it then sunk. There is a pretty big recovery operation going on at the moment, the diesel was contained with a barrage, but they now need to lift the boat out of the outer harbour, as that is a quite busy fairway. I thought it was a Sunseeker Manhatton (there are 2 moored in Torquay), but it was only a Princess 85 (they are built at Plymouth), so the value is only about £2m. BTW, the Manhatton and the Princess have remarkably similar looks.

You should not judge others by your own standards 🙄😇
  11. Fixed that 🤣 Here is another pic,
  12. Oh, that is gonna cost the insurance company, 80ft long, estimated value £6m, and it has now sunk with 9 Tons of diesel on board.
  13. It is not difficult see what the ‘C’ is for in your name 🙄😂😇
  14. RIP, he was 2 years younger than me !
  15. yes, I don't disagree, the blank will be fine, it is the fittings where the money is saved during manufacture. I have some tronix rods that are in the same ballpark, the blanks are excellent but you are never going to find top of the range fuji rings and reel seats on them.
  16. Agree, but with regard to quality, the rods retail at £50, so the tackle shop is buying them from pure fishing ( they own the shaky brand) for about £28. Therefore pure fishing are buying them from china at about £10 - £12 a rod !
  17. Getting 6 years out of anything made by shakyspear, is very good going !
  18. If you were to speak feck'in English instead of United Stateswest coast rhyming slang then I would understand, bloody cuntry bumpkins 🤣 Next you will be calling me Treacle 😍
  19. Nah, I drink neat sulphuric acid 🤣🤣🤣
  20. Yes, all the info you need is in the document you attached. You just need to look up the chartplotter nmea port wire colours.
  21. Yes, but it is not the same alloy content as Alloy wheels. Plenty of ally boats around here, and they seem quite tough Ordinary road salt eats alloy wheels, which was the problem with the jeep. The OEM wheels were polished alloy and then clear coated. When they were about 10 years old, the road salt was creeping under the clear coat and pitting the alloy. If I could get alloy wheels made of the same ally that they build boats from, then yes, I would certainly have considered that option.
  22. Both JonD and myself are using Garmin panoptics transducers that have a built in AHRS compass ( Automatic Heading Reference Sensor i.e. a magnetometer sensor), so yes, I can fully understand your need for this type of functionality. When we are drifting it displays the boat icon in the correct orientation, irrespective of drift direction, which for me is quite helpful when drifting wrecks
  23. There is no way a modern M2 2850 motherboard mounter SSD should come loose, it is screwed in. Also, there is no need to run at 24v. TBF, it would have to be a very rugged build, which may make it quite an expensive project.
