  1. Dont ask, round 2 has just started up again today, feck it 😧
  2. Fri pm and all day Sat / Sun I was bedridden and TBH thought I was gonna die. Running a temp of a steady 40.7C was taking its toll, although my other sats like BP (slightly high) and Blood oxygen (98%) were ok. Pissing was difficult, and I couldn't eat, but my surgery came up trumps on Friday and provided some strong antibiotics. Today I called the hospital, and they have told me to stop taking the immunosuppressant pills for a week. TBH feeling a bit better now, I think for the whole weekend my wife was inches away from calling an ambo...................
  3. I have just upgraded my twin Garmin 95SV Plus plotters to Bluechart G3 vision, however, the only way to get to load the HD relief shading tiles is by Wifi from ActiveCaptain. If you just download the G3 vision charts via Garmin express, then you don't activate the relief shading. However, loading the tiles via Wifi/ActiveCaptain is a faff, as the loading process is very device dependant. I spent a few hours on the phone to Garmin support to try and understand the process better, and now I think I have it buttoned. Everytime I tried to sync from my iPhone 11 Pro Max the process failed quite quickly. Garmin suggested the best plan was to use an iPad as the system was designed around that combination, however, the wife's iPad Air didn't have enough free memory and there was really nothing I could delete without being deep in the shit. In desperation, I tried her iPhone 11 Pro and it worked perfectly. The secret is to turn off auto lock, turn off low power mode, turn off Wi-Fi low data mode, disable Bluetooth, disable mobile data, and to shutdown the GSM channel, which is OK for a techy geek like me, but not every bodies cup of tea. For me the added detail will be a big plus when inshore fishing, also I can use the same detail on my phone using activecaptain.
  4. Damn, I was going out this morning, but began to feel unwell late late night, and the wife dissuaded me from going, which was a sensible move. Apparently I have a UTI which has the potential to be quite serious in the very immunosuppressed, due to sepsis. More fec’kin pills πŸ™„
  5. That looks pretty good for a year in the drink ................πŸ‘ Around here, the only boats that come out with just a layer of slim are copper coated, the rest come out with a full garden / farm. Even your transducers look OK, here they have to be cleared of mussels every few months.
  6. If it is dogfish, school bass, wrasse, Plaice, flounder, and small pollock, then inshore marks will always win. If it is larger Pollock, Ling, larger Bass, etc, then the offshore wrecks are the place to be. I define offshore as more than 6 miles out ..........................
  7. They both couldn't get out of the same side at the same time 🀣
  8. For a lot of my working life I was a senior engineer on permanent call, so getting out of bed to fix something electronic / electrical seems pretty normal to me, even after all these years !
  9. Well, at 19 years old it is going to have the odd issue or two, but TBF it has been extremely reliable and a very good friend. Unfortunately, with the modern trend to greener vehicles, there is nothing on the market that is short wheelbase large family car size and can tow 3.5T with ease. Since deleting the siren, the VTSS (Vehicle Theft Security System) knows it is not there and illuminates a small red VTSS warning light on the dash. Although it is not an MOT failure (immobilisers and theft alarms are outside the MOT scope) it is a bit bright at night. However, a quick look at the wiring diagram shows me that the LED illuminates from a switched earth from the BCM, therefore it will be easy to extinguish by removing the relevant connector pin on the dash plug.
  10. All fixed now, but the bas'tids at Jeep nearly caught me out, there are 32 wires on one side of the plug and 31 other ! Went for a decent drive last evening to check all the functionality and it was all fine .............. However ................ At 3:30am this morning the alarm siren started going off, and it is loud, it is very loud .........🀣 I went out to the car, and it wouldn't reset when I unlocked the doors, and it is zilch to do with the wiring that I have fixed, as the BCM talks to the intrusion Module and the siren module via its own dedicated PCM twisted pair. The alarm has always been an area of contention on the Jeep as it has a mind of its own, but usually it resets OK. So .... I disconnected the car battery, which left the alarm running on its own internal battery, and it is now 3:45am ! I decided to delete the alarm siren completely, by removing it. 45 minutes later the job was done, as it involves taking the O/S headlight out, the airbox has to come out, and also the O/S indicator. The 3 nuts that hold it in have been there since 2003 so were more than difficult to undo, which meant I had to use the air die grinder at 4:00am. Once the siren was out I wrapped it in a towel and then shoved it into a foam lined box, it took another hour before the internal battery died !

    Wrecking

Yes, Cheep Cherokee KJ 2004 2.8CRD LTD, we have had it since it was almost new, and it has given excellent service.
  12. At least you managed to get out Dicky, and find a Codling. The wind turned East here, so we gave it a miss.

    Wrecking

Well done Josh, some super fish there. I was going out with my mate today, and we had planned the 40 - 50 mile wrecks, but the wind turned easterly (not as forecast) so we gave it a miss. I haven't been out since the 17th due to a poorly tow truck with intermittent electrical issues, but that is now almost solved, so I will be out there when the next suitable weather arrives.
  14. @Andy135 takes the cigar, very well hidden under the carpet and mounted to the rear of the rear seat mounting cross member is this ............. and tomorrow morning will now be spent soldering 31 wires together and covering each connection with glued heatshrink.
  15. Was that with a circle hook ? I normally find circles work a whole lot better on hit & run fish. Very unlucky to get a circle deep hooked.
  16. What, don't you like chips πŸ™„ Well done on the cod, 4lb is a good fish on the south coast at the moment.
  17. Actually, I quite liked it, 7/10
  18. I would like to be out the weekend, but I am struggling with the electrical fault on the Jeep. It is definitely not the indicator stalk, the Body Control Module, or the towing light module. I am now going back to my original thoughts of a bad earth. However, in the process of changing the BCM under the dash, I found a major set back today. I lifted the driver's side carpet and there is a lot (I mean a lot) of sea water in the footwell that has soaked into the sponge like sound deadening carpet backing. The loom to the rear runs up a channel in the middle of the floor, and it was full of water. Unfortunately there are splices in the loom (common manufacturing process) and although covered with glued heat shrink, they have been underwater for some time. Currently, the driver's seat is out, and the carpets have been squeegeed (to remove most of the excess water). Now I have placed towels under them to try and draw out more water. I think I have removed about 1.5L of water ! Although the water does taste salty (the tongue tip test), the floor pan has stood up remarkably well and there is very little rust showing. I launch with waders on, and I can't imagine they have put that much seawater in the car. I think this might go back a couple of summers ago when I was launching in long shorts, and they were getting very wet. Now I always wear waders. It is time to break out the wiring diagrams ...........
  19. Calling @Geoff, are you receiving, over ............🀣 Improper use of a noun πŸ™„
  20. Looks nice mike. I am not keen on whiting, way too bland for me.
  21. Portland rig is fine, just a faff if you have to re-rig. The only thing I use a Portland for is live bait fishing as it is tangle free in that application. Don't worry too much about using weak links for the lead, as it is generally the lure that snags when it hooks into something on the wreck.
  22. Sort of, but Jeep have made life easy with this module. The Immobilizer / keyless entry is part of the Body Control module, but it is a separate plugin unit, so is easily be changed / swapped over. The only real nightmare is that the BCM is Model specific, ( ie LHD, RHD, Key less entry, Front Fogs, etc) and the part number is also model specific, I just need to find a BCM with the same part number, which I now have, from a dealer in Germany, but at Β£38 it is worth the risk for a S/H part. The BCM is the only common denominator to the fault, and they are known to fail, with all sorts of random electrical issues. The fault is currently ............. indicate left and the tail gate locks, the rear wiper operates, sometimes the front wipers operate, and sometimes the alarm goes off (which is cleared by a press of the keyfob). If you indicate right for a flash or two, this clears the fault until the next ignition on cycle. I have eliminated the indicator / wiper stalk, and the Jeep towing lights module. This model does not have CanBus, it is pretty much conventional wiring. If it is the fault, then I will ship it off to BBA Reman in Kent to get all the old capacitors changed, and the surface mount circuit board reflowed.
  23. I have been looking, but 2003/4 is like rocking horse poo, plenty of 2005/7, these fit but are not compatible !
