  1. Robin Howard out of Brighton uses this technique to deadly effect both on rough ground and wreck marks. There are probably some youtube vids where he explains the rigs in detail. Don't try is with slow jigs, as the finish of the jig takes a thorough dislike to being bounced off the bottom !
  2. He is really thinking about bait thieving pikey sharks that are a waste of ocean space πŸ™„πŸ˜‡
  3. Get onto a deep water wreck and bounce a lure along the bottom beside the wreck. we get a few small codling on the inshore rough ground marks, but that is very β€˜hit n miss’
  4. It would be last minute for me as being immunosuppressed, I need to avoid people and I am careful where I go. This situation could be for 2 years, but the drugs are working really well so I am going to stick with it. πŸ‘
  5. Possibly, but alternators don't last forever, I have had 2 on the Jeep. Also, the merc 150 that I have is known to suffer alternator failure within the 5 year warranty. If the shore charger has never been working, then the alternator will have worked hard continually charging partially flat batteries. I guess the shore charger is the same that is used in caravans and motorhomes.
  6. Ah, ok. On older engines, alternators are quite generic, so it is relatively easy to fit a unit of higher output. I am guessing the rectifier pack has a couple of duff diodes in yours, so usually they replace both the rectifier pack and the regulator unit when they do a rebuild.
  7. Seems about right. The fridge on 12v takes a lot of current (IIRC 12-14amp). Are you able to replace the alternator with a higher output model ?
  8. I was using my phone, and it looks like the autocorrect tried to replace a misspelt word with 'arrested' .......... I hate autocorrect, I must look into turning it off πŸ˜‡
  9. Why would I be embarrested, you are the one who is being a dickhead πŸ™„πŸ€£
  10. Yep, well done steve .......... The home of the SACGB. I had to deliver some stuff down there today (lures, very big hooks, and spools of 250lb mono), so spent the late afternoon and early evening being a grockle (emmet) πŸ˜€
  11. Wrong side of Cornwall .......... A massive clue ............ the boat in the foreground is 'Top Cat'
  12. @Odyssey might know, but it is not in Wales and has nothing to do with shagging sheep. It is a port in the south west ..................
  13. I know that feeling, the sea is trying to push you at an angle, and it feels like the boat wants to broach, steering input just at the right moment and all is well ........
  14. I use those, cheap at screwfix at the moment ........
  15. My best purchase has to be the Flo Torq SSR Solid prop HUB. Designed by Mercury to stop prop rattle and clunky gear selection when using heavy props, and I have to say it works perfectly with the Mercury S/S Revolution 4 prop.
  16. My mate has one with twin zuk 140's, they take the rough stuff OK, but tend to slam pretty hard into a head sea.
  17. Generally, the motion of the fish swimming makes the hooks create a larger hole, and then they just drop out. In 50+ years of fishing, I have only caught less than a handful of fish with an old hook still in them, and most of those were coarse fish. The 'take' is quite exciting when using lures like a 'patch', bad luck on not having it quite setup right, shite happens ! πŸ™„
  18. I have always used chain that is equal to the boat length. It has always worked ok fo me, you will only be out in relatively calm conditions, and probably not leaving the boat unattended at anchor πŸ˜‰
  19. Nice Ballan πŸ‘ I guess you should have started the post with, So, so you think you can tell Heaven from hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange A walk-on part in the war For a leading role in a cage?
  20. Did you see any sheep 🀣
  21. I have had a hard day grafting, but happy to report that Cobalt drills cut through stainless very well indeed .....☝️ With a bit of luck he should catch some rays down there, Blonds and Small eyed.
  22. There is always a cardboard box 🀣
  23. 4 times this season, I have been offered good money for Bluefin, pretty much what I paid for it new ! But it just means I would have the hassle of buying another boat which would definitely be bigger (always the way), and new, however the waiting list at Ribcraft is now 2 years, and I am very happy with the boat as is.
