  1. Well done Luke, the first one is quite satisfying as you know the tackle is performing as you expect it to. Down here today was perfect conditions with 0.3m swell @ 11.5 secs, however, I knew that going out would be folly until I get this flare up sorted, but being retired I get to go every good day, so a bank holiday weekend is no big loss to me. This afternoon there was a 50mile slow moving tailback with traffic coming into Devon & Cornwall......... eat meat, grill a grockle 🤣
  2. Yes, on the wrecks when bream fishing. Mack tipped with squid on a 2 up rig,
  3. Well, the screening was successful and I start the drug on Thursday. The screen threw up an odd one, I have had glandular fever within the last 10 years 🤭, also I have never had covid 👍 and although I look like a badger, I am not a TB carrier 🤣
  4. If I can make some improvement, then I guess we might be out on Monday. It would have to be an early start as there are already a lot of crockles about ..........
  5. I used to love going into the rain forest early in the morning, love the sounds and smell.
  6. Thanks Andy. I had it planned to go out this morning and come back in on the ebb, but at the moment I am running a temp of 38.7c !
  7. Unfortunately I am way too ill to go out at the moment with another flare up of Colitis. However, I have had a load of test this week to put me on a Biologic drug which I would need to inject every 2 weeks. The tests were loads of blood tests for Hepatitis, chicken pox, & Measles antibodies, Also more blood taken to test whether I have ever had TB and that I am a not a TB carrier, and other tests, including xrays, to ensure that I am not a Hepatitis carrier. I should know all the results next week. The initial dose is interesting, it is injected in the stomach and the initial dose is 4 syringes injected simultaneously ! Unfortunately with this stuff, it is an immunosuppressant, so going forward I will have almost zero immunity, which might mean some lifestyle changes, and certainly carries a huge element of risk, but right now I am willing to take the risk.
  8. Depending on the age, most were 3 cylinders with Carbs Does it have Carbs or is it TLDI ? (Direct Injection)
  9. I would probably use reinforced transparent hose, often use on boats. This sort of thing but larger dia https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/flexible-tubes/3680205/?cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-CSS_UK_EN_Plumbing_%26_Pipeline_Whoop-_-Flexible+Tubes_Whoop-_-3680205&matchtype=&pla-301983312911&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqryPrtzl8AIVSajVCh0fNgtfEAQYBCABEgJhdPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  10. You can get the prediction info from here http://www.ukho.gov.uk/easytide/easytide/ShowPrediction.aspx?PortID=0062&PredictionLength=7
  11. This may help. This is the hydrographic office prediction for today as a graphical representation This is the graph for the tide today at my local port
  12. A commando plug is way better on big welders 😉
  13. 🤣🤣 Thanks Geoff, I have corrected it now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  14. You will definitely need to stretch over the bow. Best to warm it up with very hot water or a hair dryer.
  15. Pete, fitting the rubbing strake is an arsehole of a job. The strake is usually stretched on, so if you just fix one end at the transom and then fit it around the boat it will be about a foot or more too short. I have fitted a few and the only way to do it is to soak the rubber strake in very hot water, then fix both ends at the transom (usually using the end cap tube fixings, but some are just screwed) and then stretch the strake over the bow, then just go around and make sure it is fitted Ok over the gunnel flange. Some of them have taken two of us to stretch it over the bow !
  16. On a Land Rover you should only use Monel pop rivets to stop electrolysis corrosion.
  17. If you cant get any wide flange pop rivets, then use pop rivet washers (cheap) to increase the surface area of the rivet. Fit the washers on both the top and bottom of the rivet.
  18. I hope it will be fine. Nobody wants the hassle of storm damage. That looks like piles of tiles on the scaffold, I assume they are the new ones ready for the roofers ? I am surprised you managed to source them as tiles are in short supply at the moment, brother in law has been told they wont be available until sept /oct for one of his extension jobs !
  19. Time for more Tom Waits ---- from the old grey whistle test in 1977
  20. Agree. Even though an impeller looks good an mint, when they get older they tend to shed their vanes with no real warning ! If it is done, then you have confidence to trust it.
  21. The middle to end of next week is looking OK , fingers crossed, because looking ahead 7 days is like a lifetime in weather terms.
  22. After speaking to ASAP, I have decided that my fix will probably be permanent, as this is the older 200 series and although all the spares are available (pump rebuild kits, connector elbows etc) the head is not available as a separate unit. All I will do is to replace the copper washer and O ring, with a 'Dowty' washer to complete the fix. For those that don't know what a Dowty washer is, it is a tempered steel washer that has a built in O ring bonded to the inner diameter of the washer. Dowty washers are used almost exclusively in the hydraulics industry and these bad boys will easily seal 3000psi. Off the shelf they are normally larger BSP sizes, so I had to order the 10mm size (made in Germany) and it arrived today.
  23. So, i am guessing it is an Avonride coupling, but somebody has fitted a Bradley cast hitch, probably a D201. There will be a locking hole in the side of the hitch, which is usually covered by a small swivel plate. The lock assembly fits in the hole to lock it, and is completely removed to unlock it. The lock is about £15 for genuine Bradley and about £11 for a 3rd party lock. If you get a lock, don't lose the keys as they are an exceptional pain to drill out ! If it is a complete Bradley coupling, then it will be an HU3, and the dampers for those are very expensive. The HU3 is a direct replacement for the Hydratow that I had on my old GP trailer.
