  1. Excellent stuff. This is all local for me and I can't wait to get back out there once the weather improves. As you know, we have.about 300 fishable wrecks within a 40 radius.
  2. What is a Skoda with a sunroof ? ...................... a skip 🀣
  3. Probably the 'MV Gateway', which is about 42 miles out .......... 64m long and 10m wide ............. It is the only wreck where I have had a double figure Pollock on 4 successive drifts, that was last year, and we came in with 200kg of fish, just 3 of us fishing. Most of it was taken to the local care homes ..........
  4. Hmm, as I understand it, corporate hospitality is not tax deductible, but taking your staff out on the piss is ! The boat fuel can go on tax .............. Creative accounting within the HMRC guidelines works for me ...............
  5. Matt also catches big Tuna when shark fishing at 6 miles out ! πŸ™„πŸ€£ Yes they do, to a degree, but not nearly as well as a rod built for the job. You can get a reasonable jig action with a 6 -12, 8.5 - 15, or light spinning rod, however, you enter a different world with a dedicated jigging rod. Also, you will find it extremely hard work and very tiring. You also need a reel which is small with a high(ish) rear ratio.
  6. PMSL ........... that really is worth a ...........
  7. Well done Terry, it is nice to see a SPJ specialist in the UK, as it will save a lot of us importing direct from Japan and/or China. SPJ is getting bigger each year and taking off much better than LRF ever did. I know a few businesses that invested heavily in LRF and got their fingers burnt, but with SPJ I think you are onto a winner, as it is similar to traditional 'gilling' but produces a better stamp of fish, is more sporting, and you tend to catch more because you can stay in the kill zone for longer. Already we have a few charter boats that specialize in SPJ, but are not quite exclusively SPJ. A local charter here that is heavily into SPJ is 'Silver Halo' run by Matt Forester. I wish you all very best, and will certainly point my charter skipper customers who ask about SPJ in your direction ............
  8. At 99, it would be nice if he made it to 100 in June ................ I had to smile at this comment from another source ............ Yeah, when you get to 100 you get a telegram from the queen and when you get to 13 you get a txt from price andrew 🀣🀣🀣
  9. Very nice ........... at least you won’t suffer from tip wrap which can be an issue on certain jigging styles. I had a delivery today ........... I have now got to unpack and check 500 of these ...........
  10. Tarzan and Jane are going to have sex for the first time, but Tarzan tells Jane that he doesn’t know how. Jane says: β€œLook, it’s very easy.” Jane then explains to Tarzan the mechanics of making love. After listening, Tarzan tells Jane: β€œTarzan does it in tree trunk hole.” Jane replies while motioning to her crotch: β€œTarzan! You’ve got it all wrong. You stick it in this hole.” Tarzan and Jane then get naked and Jane motions Tarzan to insert his love making tool into her crotch. Suddenly, Tarzan kicks Jane very hard in her crotch. Writhing in pain, Jane asks Tarzan: β€œWhat was that for?” Tarzan replies: β€œTarzan checks for Squirrels.”
  11. Got the Crimson Idol on tonight............... There are some lyrics in this that I find quite amusing and appeal to my sense of humour 🀣
  12. I not noticed much difference in the action, however more often than not, I tie direct to the jig. On the wrecks I tend fish close to the wreck and my jig usually ends up decorating the wreck long before I consider changing it πŸ™„πŸ€£
  13. Use a breakaway mini clip or a lure clip. The mini clip is rated at about 25lb , the quick change lure clips are rated on size from about 28lb to 75ish lb. A lure clip does not effect the action.
  14. I did mention to him today, that he should show his face on here !
  15. @Terry Smith, @Ivan Tuna..........Time for a big shout out for Terry at Jigabite ............. I ordered a reel yesterday afternoon, and it arrived first thing this morning. You can't get better than that πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. Muse are local band here. They all went to Teignmouth Community College (Secondary School) and that is where their career started. They often come back and visit, and it is not unusual to see them in the town.
  17. Nah, just bait the lure hook with a lump of mack, that is no different to trout fly fishing and using β€˜worm assist’ on the fly hook 🀣
  18. Do you ask all your trades people if they have been vaccinated against Flu, Pneumonia, measles, typhoid, cholera, dengue fever, SARS2, and yellow fever ? . No, I thought not. I guess you are making more of the situation than is strictly necessary ! . Or maybe just being a little confrontational 🀣
  19. Unfortunately by definition, it does ! My plumber / engineer (Tom) is due in the next week to service my boiler. Did I ask him if he had been vaccinated ? ......... no, of course I didn't, as it is none of my business. However, I do expect him to follow the rules, which I know he will do. Nothing has changed. If you don't like the way a trade's person performs their job, then you get rid of them, but that has absolutely nothing to do with whether they have been vaccinated or not, that is personal and not the business of the consumer. Tom has suggested that we go out whilst he does the service, and he will lock up and post the key through the letterbox .............excellent
  20. Hmm, so what is a swim bait, or what is a stick bait .............🀣 ........... they are lures ! A lure is any bait that is artificial ...............πŸ‘
  21. As always with Shimano, everybody is similar in price ........... I think on the UK mainland it will be a choice between Terry and Uttings .............. However, I can wait as the new Maxel will be here later this week to keep me going .................
  22. FFS .............. All the vociferous opponents of freedom choice on here need to sit back and think. We live in a democratic free state and there is no statute to be vaccinated. We should respect that some folk might have reservations, it is THEIR choice, that should be respected. Many of our forefathers paid the ultimate price in years gone by to allow us to have the freedom of choice that we have today. From my own personal perspective I am easy about it. The take up of the over 70's has been in excess of 90% and the total take up is expected to be 80 - 90&, therefore the unvaccinated will be outnumbered significantly, for every 1,000,000, population, approx 900,000 will have been jabbed. Therefore, it matters little as the unvaccinated is such a small number (10 -20%) The unvaccinated will most likely be very cautious, some will fall ill, some will fall very ill, some will die, but that is THEIR choice ......... and THEIR choice should be respected in our free society. It is the feckers that have been vaccinated and then run riot over safety protocols that are a bigger issue !
  23. I rang Terry today and have ordered a Shimano 1500HG F Special, but the delivery date is unknown and TBH Shimano reels are a bit like gold dust in the UK at the moment. I also pulled the trigger on a Maxel Rage25H as I needed a faster reel for next time I go out. These come out of the same factory as the JM Ocean Devil which is legendary for its free spool performance. All of the Maxel range runs in SS bearings and SS gear sets. For those that are confused about needing a faster reel for slow jigging, ............ it is all about the length of line retrieved per handle quarter turn, half turn, and full turn. A higher geared reel is less work for the user.
