  1. Unless it is old, then most Fusion stuff is NMEA2k ............... mine is wired into the NMEA2k backbone,
  2. Ah, OK ............. that is something I wouldn't have thought to do ................... 👍
  3. Optional my arse ............... I couldn’t get past it today, without uploading a picture ................ also there is no option to be able to use a URL for the picture ........... If you are not careful we will call you 'Nick' ..............😂 ........... Oh Dear ...............🤣
  4. Ok. I understand it better now. Your existing BB is plenty fast enough for streaming TV. Just like BHP sells cars, but Torque wins races, then BB is the same....... speed sells the BB, but it is the ‘through put’ that decides how effective it us. Generally it is safe to assume your useful ‘through put’ speed is 75 - 85% of the quoted speed. ‘Through put’ is defined as an error free data packet, ie the BER ( Bit Error Rate) in that packet is zero Now the technical bit ........ modern compressed video and efficient CODEC’s allow this service to operate over a very small bandwidths....... the bandwidths required for normal TV is 3mbs and 5mbs for HD TV. I think you can get NowTV, or BT TV on a 30 free trial. My through put is poor due to line noise which BT have chosen to ignore. However, everyday my online business is running the website, Cloud storage, etc, plus films and catchup TV being streamed ...... and the streaming works fine.
  5. I have a similar dilemma ......... I live in a private road of 8 houses and bungalows and Virgin never provided CCTV due to the implications of the pavement reinstatement ........ Currently, we get Broadband from Vodafone , and TV from Sky ................ I have been a sky customer for years and find it Ok, but every now and again you need to knock on their door and remind them to stop taking the pricing piss out of loyalty ........... Interestingly, Vodafone couldn't deliver on their promise of 55Mbs minimum, which I knew they wouldn't be able to achieve without the help of BT, and BT don't want to invest in local loop infrastructure ............ so Vodafone have given me 15% discount for the duration on the contract, on top of the 20% discount that I got for being an existing customer ..... however, speed is Ok with a solid 40Mbs ............. Sky Q has a special offer on at the moment ...............
  6. They are not able to monitor PM's, but they have probably set up a 'phase' to detect this forum name when the PM gets 'parsed'
  7. With most Fusion stuff you can have at least 2 speaker zones and you can switch off zones from the head unit ................
  8. True to a degree, but I was under the impression that you could use the G3 3D function to build a 3D seabed image based on the contours. Fortunately, these days with multi core, multi thread processors, this type of processing intensive work is quick and easy. The only issue with Quickdraw is that it is quite time consuming, and the most you can store in one map is 32Gb ..................
  9. Excellent stuff Andy, Garmin also do the same with their G3 3D mapping ............... I think that wreck is the SS Fallodon which was torpedoed in 1917, ............... The data from wrecksite does suggest that there is an extensive scour of up to 39m all around the wreck, so probably good for Turbot & Plaice at the right time of the tide ............ here is the latest verbiage ........... SEP 2016/000165703 14.11.16 EXAM'D 13.11.16 IN 5026.291N, 0113.174W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 28.24MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 35MTRS. LENGTH 107MTRS, WIDTH 28MTRS, HT 6.7MTRS, ORIENTATION 148DEGS. SCOUR LENGTH 85MTRS, TOWARDS 087 DEGS. STARBOARD HULL LARGELY COLLAPSED ON TOP OF THE REMAINS OF THE VESSEL. SHALLOW MOST POINT IS AT THE STERN. A BOILER IS VISIBLE IN THE CENTRE OF THE WK. (MMT UK, HI 1499). AMEND DW 28MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
  10. The newer trailers with ALKO / Knott - Avonride / BPW axles have a one piece sealed bearing, and the bearing preload is set by the 'one shot' hub nut which is torqued up to 290Nm (213lbft - which is a fair bit more than 3 grunts and a hernia 😂 ). Bearing buddies with these hubs are ineffective and not required ...................however, most of the trailers fitted with this type of bearing will be full roller coaster with swinging front and rear beams, so there is absolutely no need to dunk the hubs in the water. I launch and recover my boat 40 - 50 times a year, but only put the trailer into tyre depth at the most ............ On all my other trailers over the years have had standard inner and outer tapered roller bearings and I have always found bearing buddies effective .............. Also, it should be remembered that another useful addition is a hub wash, my 2T Rapide trailer was fitted with one as standard and again, over the years I have found a hub wash to be very effective at keeping the brakes free from major corrosion
  11. Here is the @Andy135 boat music ............... You get a choice of the famous cover by Bruce Springsteen .............. Or, you have the original by Tom Waits ................... from the album 'Heart Attack and Vine'
  12. Not only is throttle adjustment required (not always) , but you should also trim in and out of the turn ............ When I specified the Bluefin build i also specified Mercury 'Active Trim' ........... being GPS controlled not only does it trim on speed but also if you turn it trims in and out absolutely spot on ........ It really is a lazy sod's bit of kit, but i wouldn't be without it now .............. I have tried manually trimming at speed but active trim is always spot on If the sea is flat (ish) and I am lightly loaded then I use profile 4 or 5 ................. normally profile 3 covers normal conditions, if it gets a bit bumpy and I need to push the bow down then I use profile 2 .......................
  13. I use a Black box Fusion BB100 with the additional power amp, configured as one zone with the fusion waterproof speakers mounted in the lower part of the console ............. Because Fusion is owned by Garmin, the plotters support Fusion which makes it a very integrated system ............... Our Apple phones are paired with the fusion system, usually running premium spotify ........... but I also have a 128Gb usb stick plugged into the black box for when I am outside of GSM range ................ Anybody that puts on Country N western, Rap, or dustbn briber is usually fed to the sharks .............🥵
  14. CCR did loads of good music ................ I can remember when this was released in 69 .............
  15. We are very much heavy and classic rock .................. Rammstein, Metallica, ACDC, Quireboys, Queensryche, Guns N Roses, etc ............. Turn up the volume ............
  16. Boat Music ................ we run a fusion system linked to premium Spotify .............
  17. Hmm ............... that is going to go down well with the Taff's ............... Drakeford and Wee cranky now need to fall in line ..............FFS we are one nation ...........
  18. Weather here is shite for the whole weekend ..... rain and SW wind to 65mph ................. oh, and next week doesn't look too nice either ............. I shall probably carry on designing our extension (Double garage, bathroom (wetroom), utility room, kitchen , and larger lounge ............ and also get the wood ordered for my winter project which is a 60m2 raised decking, using solid composite deck boards ............. waiting on the utilities to move the electric and gas meters at the mo ..............
  19. You have probably done enough for the moment, however, a detailed visual inspection of the engine and keeping both the engine and engine bay very clean will show up potential faults quicker when you have that last look in the engine bay before you leave the boat ................
  20. Damn, I posted this just now, but it went AWOL, so lets try again ............. For those with Garmin gear you can select the transducer frequency with ................... From the sonar screen >Menu > Frequency, It will only show which frequencies are supported by your transducer ............. Looking at structure is great, but often you will need to select a frequency that is a balance between structure and fish detail ........ CHIRP was invented for that very reason, but CHIRP can often make the screen cluttered as the gain is increased, which is why selecting a dedicated frequency can give better results. However, like Jon, I also like to select a suitable frequency for what I want to see, which is why I have 2 transducers and 2 plotters ........... often I will have one set for structure detail and another set for fish detail ........... Also with Garmin ........... to dump the screen as a bitmap image to the SD card, then tap and hold the Home button for 6 seconds ..................

    Wreckfinder

Well, here you go ................. a screen grab of a bit of sea near Milford I then clicked on the wreck of the SS Philotis near the Turbot bank .......... it brings up a lot of info that you have to scroll through so I grabbed it in 2 setions ........

    Wreckfinder

Yes, I use the wreckfinder App on my Iphone 11 pro max ................. however, I dont use it often enough to justify it, I prefer Wrecksite.eu

    Wreckfinder

Homeport also used to support active captain, but I think they removed the support as active captain can be quite flaky ........... All you need with Homport is to copy your inbuilt plotter chart onto a SD card and then you need an SD card reader on the PC ........... then your PC effectively becomes your plotter. After each trip I always save the 'user data' to the sd card and then analyse the active track on homeport .............. Also your sd card becomes a definitive backup of your plotter marks .............. Homeport is here ............... https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=7263

    Wreckfinder

Wrecks change and new ones are added ................ also it is good to try new areas from time to time ................ When I say 'wrecks change', they break up, or a storm causes some seabed movement etc ............ the inffo regarding the tidal scours around the wreck (length, depth etc) is very important for fishing ......... their info is being updated all the time, and for a resource of this quality, then £30ish is not a lot to pay ............... BTW: With Wreckfinder ............... they were offering it cheaper from their website (Wreckfinder.co.uk) than buying through the Apple store ............... I doubt that I will renew mine next year. Apparently, there is a software issue when used with Android, but I only use Apple devices these days ................
