Shimano Twin power 14000 is a popular choice here on tuna lure pitching. Ive been happy with my shimano grappler rods.
I’ll see what’s around in U.K…. Early days something to look at over the winter…. They ain’t cheap…. 🫣🫣🫣

Nice day Monday…. Sunshine and fish….
Seems we are getting a different class of fish in different areas. This lot would be perfect for popping… maybe next year I’ll get a popping set up to try… 🤔
@JDP I may need your advice as resident blue water expert on a set up that doesn’t break the bank!

Do I need to also buy gay beer for this ??
Glass of white go nicely….
-
Oven bake it in foil, 30 mins max, roasted new potatoes, veg of your choice on the side but if you’re posh…. Asparagus is good choice or long stem broccoli.
Keep it simple don’t need much else to go with it 🙂

Kraken stuff again 🙂

Nice one, many sharks today?
8 blues to 100lb, then trolled for 10 mins and tuna on, about 600lb. Only had time to get 2 rods out…. Was hoping to troll deadbaits but no, didn’t get time. Was a 45min scrap on that one so ran out of time to get more as customer needed to get home to pick up his wife 🫣🫣🫣

Was that a bit of high sticking or just a poor quality rod, bent butt rods make it hard for clients to high stick. You would think the reels drag setting would stop any failure of the rod unless it was either of what I mention. Lucky it was an acid wrap or the line could of most likely broke where the rod had on the rough edge, which may of ended up with the fish dragging the teaser bar bar and line.
Are you not using circles on the sharks, or did this one get a circle hooked deep somehow.
Incredible to see watts on offer back there in terms of fishing. No high sticking, I think the blank must of taken a knock at somepoint.
Totally agree on the bent butt, easier on angler too…
The other 2 were a lot smaller so it’s amazing the different classes of fish that are running at the moment. Hopefully they hang around for the weekend…

Awesome! We don’t get any up here but I’d love a crack at some 🙂

Thanks Dicky, will take a look to see if they have any individual spaces available.
Thanks Odyssey, that's definitely something to think about as Portishead is about the same distance from me as the Solent is.... have never fished in the Bristol Channel before but it looks like they get a good Cod run in the Winter!
I’ve not been out with Chris on Channel Explorer, but he seems to find the fish 🙂 there is also a local tackle shop in the marina for bait etc.

If you travel to the west then Channel Explorer out of Portishead offers a great range to trips, sole, bass, rays, cod etc. A bit different to the south coast but maybe something to consider

I think it'll make most places look a bit tame now 😢
The Plaice was a middle of the road size for over there, the boys had some right lumps last year of just under 8lb
Nice day out, crisp winter morning, sunshine, pot noodle in hand (I’d prefer a bacon sandwich) and the channel is still lovely 🙂

Cracking fishing…. Will make a winter in Cardiff look a bit tame 🫣🫣😮😮
Love the plaice too a right lump 😍😍

Nice fishing but what the tubey stuff?

And we’re off….

Yep….
Problem is not everyone can cope with it… Even on heavy gear I’ve had a lot of guys totally taken aback at the speed and power of these fish!
Starting to locate the smaller ones so if that’s the case I’ll be looking to have a popping set up on board to keep the options open for the more experienced angler 🙂
