  1. Hi all, It’s that time of year when I start replenishing the rig box for the toothy critters. If anyone is looking for shark or tope rigs made up let me know. Can build to your spec or just use my tried and tested designs 🙂
  2. I heard he’s booked his tickets and is on his way…. sorry @JDP we are all just too jealous of you 🤣
  3. @MegaByte is this your fine vessel stealing the show on the “Small boats fishing” facebook page? 🙂
  4. If I were to live out there it’d be as divorcee, Em ain’t moving Aus so I’d best stay home 🙂
  5. I completely agree…. I’m based in Milford. If I was hunting Tuna or sharks on a smaller boat I’d want to be mobile…. Just a shame that there are not that many really good places to launch… in Bristol Channel we are fortunate to have quite a few but given size of tides they are limited by tides (except Cardiff and perhaps Milford haven). A trailer boat is tempting…. A nice RIB I can code, use for teaching and a few trips in summer and then drag it down south for the big stuff while keeping main boat for 80% of my fishing but funds don’t allow for 2 sadly…. So I guess I’ll just have to drag Emma to Australia and move out there instwsd 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  6. Good result 🙂 Its pretty quiet in the channel at the moment but give it a week or 2 and the hounds will be back off Minehead or out in the trenches and loads of rays in sully, hopefully just in time for you to get the renovations done
  7. Morning all, Managed to get my hands on these as a raffle prize.(Saltist 30H). I’m going to load up with 30lb Spectra braid, but as these maybe used by customers on the boat for lure fishing or bottom fishing out in the deeps I’m in 2 minds about a mono rubbing leader…. What’s your thoughts? They’ll be used for shallow water reefing (10-60ft) or deep water drifting (300-400ft)… Anyway, they look lovely… but im an Avet fan myself although the 6.4:1 retrieve useful for getting gesr up quick 🙂
  8. Awesome pics! 🙂 as for the fishing…. Well im packing my bags and heading over 🤣
  9. Is frozen…. Thank goodness for that…. I didn’t fancy a 12p a litre hike in petrol 😮 Rest of budget blurb didn’t really look as I’m more worried about boating costs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  10. Personally I’d love both…. My big boat for offshore work and weekends away, then a RIB or other boat I can drag to a suitable location to catch other fish…. Sadly not quite there yet but maybe one day….
  11. It arrived as part as the roadshow in Cardiff on Sunday. They were offering free rides to take it for a spin…. So I had to have a go…. 50knts, dry ride, maintained a full throttle turn up to 30knts (same as mine) got a bit more fun at 35knts. Not much keel but handled nice at low speed. I could park it one handed (as in one hand in pocket), so nice tight turning circle. Russ was a bit worried at first but my parking was better than his…. 😉 Aluminum construction, on a trailer, can sleep on it, well kitted out…. id have one in a flash but at £120k it’ll have to wait… especially as you can’t code it for commercial use. If you could it would be the perfect weapon for me…. Park in marina part time, trailer to new location to chase fish, best of both worlds…. If only it was cheaper! Boat is an Extreme 745 Game King…. Worth a look on YouTube 🙂 I can see the attraction that @JDP has for a trailer boat 🙂
  12. Lever drags are great for when you want to vary the drag…. I use them a lot for sharking etc. I also use them for light lure work when a pollack etc can hit the lure hard. For my general uptiding I use a star drag. Works fine, easy to use…. If you don’t want to fine tune the drag don’t use a lever drag, just use a star drag and save your £££ 🙂
  13. Anyone use it at all? I recently bit the bullet and downloaded the navionkcs app…. It’s awesome 😎 Kind of feeling stupid for not doing it sooner…. Seems that I can plan routes on it and upload to my plotter…. Whixh is cool. It seems I can control my plotter from phone too…. But just wondering if it’s worth using the app? Anyone use phones tablets for this kind of thing? 🤔
  14. Was cold grey morning but my girl is back on the water 🙂 Roll on settled weather to get out on those reefs again 🙂

    Johnny

A wife treats her man by taking him to a Strip Club for his birthday... At The Club, The Doorman Says, "Hey Johnny, How are You?" The wife asks, "How does he know you? Johnny says, "Oh dear, I play football with him." Inside the Bartender Says, "The Usual, Johnny?" Johnny says to Wife, "Before you say anything, He's on the Darts Team." Next a stripper Says, "Hi Johnny! Do You Crave the Special Again??" The wife storms out dragging Johnny with her & jumps into a taxi... The Taxi driver Says, "Hey Johnny Boy! You picked up an ugly one this time...."
  16. Love the last pic…. Sitting there eating popcorn while someone else struggles 😄😄
  17. I’ve got a big one this year but fingers crossed this is it for 5 years…. Soon be back on the water doing what I love 🙂 Until then I just don’t even look at the credit card bill and just hope that no more invoices appear anytime soon 🤣🤣🤣
  18. Thanks for the insights! Not too worried about towing as don’t have a tow boat yet, maybe in 18 months a 6-8m RIB maybe on the scene, so hence the towing requirement. However, a rig that size shouldn’t be too heavy. I guess if it’s too good for towing in the in-laws will want to borrow it to drag their classic cars about 😬😬😬 I’ll add it to the shopping list and jump in one to test drive 🙂 Main concern is that Em needs to understand it ain’t a car, it’s a truck to lug fishing gear/boat kit/drag a boat about….
  19. given the cost it’ll be used. It’ll be bought through a company so I’m looking at finance options too. Got a few bits to sort out on boat but hopefully back in water soon and then take some for a test drive. L200 is a contender but harder to find from what I can see… Decent load capacity be useful as can chuck all boat kit in back and not worry about ruining car which is wgst currently do…
