Hopefully find a few more porgies as blues arrive en masse in late July and the porgies don’t get a look in but hopefully I’ll try a few night trips in the hopes the porgies are bit easier to find. Ugly Stick is ok for general stuff and has a handled blues ok but it’s the reason why I use quality gear out there as next time it maybe a thresher or mako that takes the bait…. Never know what’s swimming around out there

Been out already

I know the feeling…. Gets embarrassing when you back in and they tell everyone “fishing is easy” 😬😬🤣🤣

Nice early start at 06:45 to head out west. Wasn’t sure what to expect fishing by wise as early in season. Started at a nice 22 knots cruise. But soon down to being hammered in swell so back to 16knts. 2 hours later chum in water, lines out and we wait. Soon had a nice blue trying to eat floats, so I freeloned a mackerel on its head for fish number 1. Small to medium size at 95-100lb. Ian (@headlight) had a nice run, was a big porgie but snapped his ugly stick and got away. A few tentative runs (typical of porgies) but no hook ups sadly. Another 6 blues later, Ian got his second bit at the cherry and got a little porgie abour 150-160lb. Had a 250-300lb circle the boat. Wouldn’t take a bait. Soon was time to head home. Had a nice chat with HMS Dauntless on the VHF, whixh was interesting 🤣 One other boat out who only managed one porgie so quite pleased with the result and nice to kick off the season. Just need some bigger porgies, a mako, thresher, a blue over 200lb and a few Tuna now for a good season 🤣🤣🤣

And I get told mine are bad….. 😭

Well I had a few good ones and I know that I had to keep true to form so I posted this one 😉

My worry is that @Andy135 can’t spell and what he thinks is a mistake isn’t….. hopefully headmaster @Geoff will be along soon 🙂

If you’re in the stalls or hats and barrels it’ll prob be Andy, should be plenty about for you 🙂 I’m off on summer hols Weds Am so no reports for 10 days from me… hopefully back at it soon

So £5.8m in Diesel then….. I saw it on the news, i guess managed to move other boats away but a hell of a fire….

Not really no slept ok boat Saturday night and no charger so battery went flat. I thought it was a decent-ish tope. Instead a giant animated turd…. (I’m not a fan….) Lovely to be out. Even had a prat on a jet ski ride into my wake to try and jump, only he hit it wrong and faceplanted himself instead. Most satisfying after the idiot decided to run around marina at about 10 knots making a wake….

Locked out at 08:30 for an inshore trip (reefing and a crack at the tope). Loveky to start but wind got up. Had pollack, cod, wrasse on feathers and…. ahem… dogfish…. They must be about in plague proportions to take artificial lures 😬😬😬😬 Anchored up and used the pollack as bait. Quite a few doggies, 3 dropped tope (was using circles not again!). Quite a few huss, best was 19lb 11oz so a nice PB. Had another at 18lb+ quite a few doubles…. Fished until 2, then went and sat in sunshine and ate a late lunch. (Freshly made pizza, no pot noodles here!) lock in at 16:00 as back to work tomorrow 😭

Saturday is off… So it’s movie night tonight 🙂 Maverick in the cinema tonight instead 😆
