  1. Sully, fished in off the far end of Sully Bay on the fingers. I tried to get shelter from that Easterly… A mate went down to Nash, said was full of dogs but had a few huss. However was lumpy coming back up with wind over tide
  2. Was a lot of hard work as my helm wiper isn’t working properly (new one on order) and with thick fog and a lumpy sea it’s not quite as enjoyable as a sunny day!
  3. Well I wanted to get out in case our Kim Jong Drakeford decided that we are too happy having freedom and wants to keep us indoors. Day started with Indian fog (was a-patchy 😆) but soon developed into Welsh fog (thick as 💩) Visibility was down to 20m on way home. Not much to report, blondes to 20lb, conger to 15lb thornies to 11lb, no cod. Didn’t blank but not worth braving the cold easterly I don’t know when I’m out next but may try and get some maintenance done on boat soon and get back to Milford. p.s pic is off the clearest part of the day…
  4. Went to sully, had a few blondes to 20lb a few thornies and dogs and a lone conger, no cod, was quiet out there! Blue Anchor got a few larger ones but not guranteed!
  5. Downscan not side scan is now the final decision! Im after definition of what’s under the boat for a quick reference when I’m reefing and wrecking… also useful to find Tuna and sharks (especially Porgies) when I’m trying new spots 🙂 Looking for recommendations… Lowrance Elite 9 or similar, needs to be able to connect to a NEMA2K network and I want integrated GPS as a back up as well as can never have too little when you’re 50 miles offshore….
  6. I hit a log once, knocked my transducer off and dented a fin on the prop… got lucky!
  7. You may well need to reinforce your foredeck with marine ply. Before you look at it you need to check the drop into your locker, if there is not enough you’ll find your rope doesn’t coil properly and just jams your windlass… For a manufacturer, Lewmar are excellent but you’re looking at couple of hundred quid in parts with fitment on top…

What England, the land of dogfish? 🤔 No thanks!
  9. He had a few blondes and conger but neither of us found cod. 2 charters around us didn’t get any cod so was nice to pinch one from under their noses 🤣
  10. Locked out after @jonnyswamp at 8am to a flat sea and quite a few boats in front of us…. Nothing else to do but open the revs… 33 knots at 4500rpm put us ahead of the pack. Still had another 1000rpm left but didn’t want to be too rude 😉 Headed over to Minehead was a quick run 30 mins to get out first mark. Loads of blondes and dogs, moved to another spot, loads of conger Ian took some home for a friend. @Andy_B was having a quiet day on the fish, nonchalantly starts winding in, decent bend in rod, then I saw the tail and grabbed my net… 14lb 4oz of prime fillets later and a happy crew 🙂 Loads more conger and dogs, locked in at 16:45. Nice day out, just need on myself now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi, Welcome aboard. I love just up the road from you in Blackwood. My boat is currently in CBYC Cardiff but back to west wales soon 🙂
  12. How you get on? we were plagued by dogs rays and conger but one of the team excelled…. Pweonally I think it’s down to the skipper finding the fish;)
  13. I’m out tomorrow, Minehead lunker hunting 8am or 08:30 lock out may see you about 🙂
  14. It’s a joke… hopefully my stalkers see the funny side of it else they in for a looooooooonnnnnnnggggg wait 🤔
  15. Completely unexpected... And a complete shock if I'm honest ❤️❤️❤️Even though everybody keeps asking me... The most wonderful gift I could wish for especially this time of year ❤❤❤ Especially after the shit show that this year has been! Sometimes there are some unexpected things that make sense in life So proud to be able to share with you this wonderful news finally with everybody... A little miracle.... As you can see, my liver is fully functional and ready for Christmas and New Year. What a relief!
  16. Thick line can be too thick…. Sometimes best to go thinner. I woukd suggest 20lb mono and a 60lb shock leader to start. You want to cast closer to the rode as the tide runs fastest, then almost 90deg to boat at slack water
  17. I’ve started this year. Needs to bed on spool but works well, just check the end by your lead in case it’s frayed. I can uptide in deeper water and faster tides which is main advantage
  18. I’ve only done India once for work, COVID stopped the last2 trips fortunately…. But I can confirm that’s an accurate description 😬😬😬
  19. WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT!!!!! 😮😮😮😮😮 We can’t have such language on a fishing forum…. Too much gear… shocking! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  20. 210g Fixed red head Gemini. 40lb braid (0.32mm dia) whole squid. You need and let loads of line out.
  21. I uptide in 80ft of water no problem
  22. I’ve found that you may need to move around as they move in packs. Once you get one it’s easy to catch a lot more! Not the best fighting fish in the world but put a bend in the rod 🙂
