  1. Sorry for any offence… sometimes you just got to laugh about it 🙂
  2. Ugly sticks are great value for the money. I currently use shimano vengeance slim. Got it on waveinn last year for just under £40. It’s a cross between the tippy ugly sticks and the Kenzakis. For my uptiding it’s the TDU410. It’s probably 25+ years old but still a lovely pair of rods 🙂
  3. I have a feeling some of our members maybe able to relate…. ( @GPSguru)…. 😬😬😬
  4. Nice! Doing better than me, Monday next crack. Where you fish?
  5. Sounds likely… some boats in U.K. get used for about 30 hours per year which isn’t much… they then get excited when they see an engine wirh 1000 hours on it… mine have for 1100 hours and are absolutely fine 🙂
  6. Angling trust are on the case now, they are putting together some information to lobby the government too…. Im not sure what we as individuals can do but I’ll do some digging and see what I find
  7. Yep that’s what I’ve heard…. Not sure if the newer ones are any better but saw one being serviced on weekend, no anode left after 200hrs running….
  8. Nah they were smiling in the pics 🤣🤣🤣
  9. Epic! Glad you got one 🙂 I’ll drop a PM about the sharks and stuff…. This is a public forum and I’m concious that no ammo is goven out to stalkers 😬😬😬
  10. Sakuma manta 540 in a 5/0 work well for me 🙂
  11. Yeah it’s a tough thing to organise… you’ve got boats like mine, able to be coded for 60 miles offshore fishing through to 14ft boat, not a level playing field… then a yacht race the same day = carnage…. I’ll stick with sharking, it’s carnage but in a fun way 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  12. So…. I recently got co-opted into the committee…. I’ll be leaving soon… I’m hindsight comp should not of run, I didn’t know a 14ft CJR was entering, no way those conditions were suitable. I locked out at 06:30, barrage said to plan your return time as it’s 2 locks running… Start time came, headed to Sully at a nice 33knts. Dropped the pick out wide, into rays…. One a Chuck…. went inshore to get out of tide, into more rays. Moved again, more rays…. moved back to Cardiff, choppy sloppy sea, more rays, cold and windy…. Had over 30 rays in first 3 hours gave up counting after that. No cod. Then the lock in…. 2.5 hours to clear the locks, nearly rammed countless times due to people queue jumping. Finally get back in to shit going down at the weigh in…. Rules state weigh in closes at 18:15. I stated that as I started the comp at 8am. Only runour got out that it was extended…. So at 18:30 a boat turns up with 4 fish to weigh in…. Then another angler turns up with a 16lb cod at 18:55…. It’s a winning fish…. Cue things getting out of hand… it was close to some argy bargy on the side…. Committee decide to offer 2 top prizes of £1k to save face on the confusion but still not good enough for some. Committee can’t be blamed for lock fiasco sadly and it wasn’t agreed to extend, just one person said it was without checking with rest of us…. We did our best…. We are all volunteers giving up our own time and TBH, it’s not worth the hassle sadly. Abtway, 20 cod weighed in, 120 boats fished, 354 anglers fished. So in short the cod fishing is crap at the moment! I enjoy my fishing and do it for fun, but those those conditions werent fun. I’m sure a lot of lessons fo be learned but for me it’s just too much hassle…. I’ll go out when it’s warm abs sunny instead 🤣🤣🤣🤣 (unless it’s shark time then I’ll go out in anything 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) Overall a lot of work goes into organising the competition. I had countless messages most evening last week about the comp, up at 5am to help organise on the day home at 10pm. Also a good few hours the day before… Well done to the anglers who caught, but I think it’ll be 12 months down west… clean water, easier locking and peace and quiet 🙂
  13. I’ll set a post up to explain what we t down…. 💩got heavy! 😬😬😬 my first and last comp, never again
  14. Not sure if it’s a fishing boat but it’s got nice curtains
  15. Boat will need to be CE marked for EU, however CE mark doesn’t exist in U.K. any more…. It’s UKCA mark. Engine does sound too small….
  16. This place…. https://www.caravanrepaircentre.net If you need spare parts for caravans or campers and some you can adapt for boats 🙂
  17. Ok if you look at the attached you’ll want to be in Sully bay. You need to keep moving to make sure you got the right amount of tide. Should be blonde Ray central but you can get nice cod here, I’ve had a few doubles out of here 🙂 Avoid the red area on the flood tide. That’s the Ranny tide race, it’s going to be nasty there…. You can try Cardiff foreshore too, it’s opposite the barrage other side of the docks. 10% fee of all prizes for biggest cod as consultancy fees payable in cash out of your winning to me after the comp 😉😂😇
  18. I’ll bring it over, it’s not far 🙂 can stop on the wrecks on the way home 🙂
  19. Nice boat. No way you can get it overland to France then bring it over by sea?
  20. You just got to keep moving, if it’s hammering try the coral near the Ranny, you’ve got Sully bay, tgst can be good on the ebb. Other option is the foreshore and Cardiff north buoy. Failing that you can try on the inside of the mid Cardiff bank halfway along, you get a bit less tide there
  21. That’s the line I’m trying to use…. I’m keen we make a call as early as we can so people aren’t dragging boats around and the shops got a bit of extra time to sell bait. Saturday looks good so im tempted to have little try in the morning maybe… depends on when I can collect bait as don’t want to let the guy down as I’ve booked it all etc
  22. What boat you looking at? 😃😃😃 I’ve thought about as would quite like a Rodman 1150… good sea keeping and good range to go off the continental shelf off Ireland but with VAT it’s just not feasible
  23. I heard from a mate it was quiet out there…. Im pushing the committee to make the call as early as possible about the comp, I don’t want to up at 5 to make a call on the day… I’ll keep you posted
