It’s good value, if you can get a lift out… I’ve never managed before and ended up over in Penarth, was lifted with 24hrs notice unlike CBYC which was 6 weeks and still nothing…

I managed to blag the last spot in Penarth…. But the office rang me up on Friday, I’m going back into CBYC F21 in the gold section 🙂 Just waiting for weather now so I can get back and get on the cod

Just been looking at his Facebook page, looks like some nice bass, bream and plaice about so hopefully I’ll get some fillets for the freezer 🙂

Well…. After an earlier lock than planned I soon saw that my deck flood light was down to one light. So new deck lights are on order as well 🙂 Hella marine, blue and white LED lights. I was tempted by red and white as red is good to keep your night sight and I have red in the cabin. However red May clash with port side light so it’s blue as low level lighting abd then flick the switch and it’s white for inside marina/locks…. (I’ve seen pictures on Facebook and looks good) Once back in Cardiff I’ll get them fitted. nexr on the list is the fridge, replace or repaint and replace catche and seal is the question…. Tempted with new as a fresh start but will look at costs…. Going to be a busy winter me thinks!

Nice fish! quite a few doubles coming out of Cardiff at the moment…. Cod fever is approaching for myself…. Love that nodding feeling of a double figure cod on an uptider…. It’s so murky you never know how big until it’s in the net round here.

It’s been a good year. East year I learn more and more. yes sad times that’s it for the sharks on my boat for 2021… but I may end up back in Milford adventuring with Rob Rennie on his… I won’t miss the 2 hour steam out. Instead it’s about 5 mins to the cod grounds off Cardiff, flat water, no swells just an uptider or 2…. But no buzz of the ratchet… Ill be back on out trying by March I’m sure 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Padstow and Ilfracombe are on the ports to visit in the spring 🙂

Another 16 yesterday best going 160-170lb with a other over 150lb was a long day (44 miles out) but worth it! That’s it for this year on my boat. Back to Cardiff for a refit, service and cod 🙂

I’ve got 20kg of dirty squid on order and I’ve got 200kg of Mackerel in the freezer. @mike farrants if you want to join in let me know 🙂 plenty to spare 🙂 Ill let people bring frozen worm/prawn etc yoursleves 🙂 Its going in a 56l icey tek cool box so easy to keep frozen. Hopefully it’ll be full of plaice and turbot fillets to bring home 🤣🤣🤣

Out tomorrow with Ian. Its my last shark trip this year as weather looks poo next week… after that prob time to hunt cod. I’ve had a good run, time to try something different and start again in March/April. 🙂 In a way in looking forward to locking out of Cardiff, motoring less than a mile and getting the uptide rods again 🙂

Just checked…. It’s cheaper but my boat is slightly too long and once I’m full of fuel it’s too heavy so that rules that one out sadly! At least I got a space so I can try for some cod now. Especially as I won’t have @Andy_B poaching anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yard is only open 8-4 Monday to Friday. No access to boats while in yard so not really ideal… a lot of my cod fishing is grab a few hours on the boat at 30 mins notice when the wind drops….

This winters job is to so a mini refit of my boat. She’s had a hammering past few years so time for some TLC and maybe clear out some of the boating detritus that I’ve gathered since I’ve had her… First one is a Diesel heater So a proper ebspacher heater is about £2.5k…. As I’m a tight wad who ain’t paying that I’m after a Chinese version… what’s best? It needs to be a lot cheaper than that else it’s just wrap up warm as i ain’t got £2.5k for warmth… I’ve already got a skin fitting and ducting in place from an old heater that was removed. Therefore I’m hoping for a simpler install…. Tips/recommendations welcomed 🙂 New lights just been ordered from the states, will post up details when I get them 🙂

No curtains! Jusr maybe recover the seats as looking worn and fit a memory foam matteress in the bow bunk as I’m getting older and it’s not the most comfortable… Candy stripe won’t suit me either 😉

Boat is too big for the dry stack and there isn’t enough cost save to justify it…. Having a berth is great to pop down, top up fuel, work on tarting up the interior etc

Just off the phone from various marinas in Cardiff… - CBYC full with waiting list - Cardiff Marina full, waiting list or fine is you’re under 8m - Small Marina up river, got room but due to high demand charging extra - Penarth Marina will move a few boats around to squeeze me in - Neyland full - Milford Haven full - Portishead has room - Watchet nearly full - Burry port loads of room but you get 45 mins either side of high tide to get In or out…. Whats it like on the south coast? Just wondering what is driving demand at the moment? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Last shark trip tomorrow. Time to get back on the cod and commence operation Odyssey Refit…. (Further posts to be added…. Basically deep clean of interior, improve sleeping, heating, new lighting, new sounds, polish, new spots, nav lights, bilge pumps, rod holders, fridge maybe even redo some upholstery…..)

Andy is bit of a cod master…. One day I took @headlight out on my boat and @Andy_B was on Pippa his old boat. He anchored a few hundred yards from me, phone pinging all day with cod pictures as we sat there with no cod…. 😢😢😢😢
