  1. I’ve got the dog, she gets violent if she thinks someone will steal her ball
  2. New (to me) MFD being collected tomorrow… a road trip with Pip to Hamble marina to pick up a nearly new Simrad NSS Evo3s 9 inch. (Will need to give the truck a wash and polish as it’s a very posh part of the boat world 😬) Plan to put the 7in out on deck and network it so that my anglers can see what’s going on 🙂 Not sure on transducer yet but at least I’ve made a start on deciding what gear to go for 🤣🤣🤣
  3. I’m not expecting much (anything) for Christmas…. I’m always a nightmare to buy for (apparently) so I just tell people not to bother 🤣 If I need gear I wheel and deal until I can afford it…
  4. Jardine spiral. Useful as easy to remove from line when using spinners for bass and mackerel
  5. I’ve got a mould for 6oz leads which are inline leads I use for shark rigs. I don’t like eyes/swivels in leads as another point of failure in your set up.
  6. Good point…. When was the last time @Andy135 or @Saintly Fish posted a joke 🤔
  7. I’ve heard it’s only south coast and nothing set in stone…. Angling trust apparently fighting to make sure recreational is not included… Goven lack of cod in channel maybe a cod ban be a better idea 🫣🫣🫣😬😬😬
  8. Sounds like a productive day out 🙂
  9. Anyone been out? my season is now done until spring 😞 Boat be out the water in new year to start the next round of maintenance, repairs and new toys to add. Hopefully back at early April for the pollack 🙂 Powerboat instruction this weekend so still on the water but this time I’m on someone else’s RIB so I’m praying that the weather holds as I won’t have a warm cabin to hide in 🤣
  10. This is a story about a couple who had been happily married for years, the only friction in their marriage was the husband’s habit of farting loudly every morning when he awoke the noise would wake his wife and the smell would make her eyes water and make her gasp for air. Every morning she would plead with him to stop ripping them off because it was making her sick. He told her he couldn't stop it and that it was perfectly natural. She told him to see a doctor, she was concerned that one day he would blow his guts out. The years went by and he continued to rip them out. Then one Christmas day morning, as she was preparing the turkey for dinner and he was upstairs sound asleep, she looked at the innards, neck, gizzard, liver and all the spare parts, and a malicious thought came to her. She took the bowl and went upstairs where her husband was sound asleep and, gently pulling the bed covers back, she pulled back the elastic waistband of his underpants and emptied the bowl of turkey guts into his shorts. Sometime later she heard her husband wake with his usual trumpeting which was followed by a blood-curdling scream and the sound of frantic footsteps as he ran into the bathroom. The wife could hardly control herself as she rolled on the floor laughing, tears in her eyes! After years of torture, she reckoned she had got him back pretty good. About twenty minutes later, her husband came downstairs in his blood stained underpants with a look of horror on his face. She bit her lip as she asked him what was the matter. He said, “Honey you were right… all these years you have warned me and I didn't listen to you.” “What do you mean?” asked his wife. “Well, you always told me that one day I would end up farting my guts out, and today it finally happened, but by the grace of god, some Vaseline and two fingers. I think I got most of them back in…….............…..”
  11. What the clarity like? Did you get much detail on the bottom as well as bait fish high in the water? Its looking like a very good solution so far as I can put a sonar hub in and that’ll give me CHiRP functionality with my existing MFDs so hopefully saves me a few £££ and I can put that to the transduxer
  12. Looks like could be a good option 🙂 bit pricey so may need to shop around see what options are… CHIRP is kind of a must if I’m upgrading, water temp I maybe able to get via an external sensor but if I don’t need to drill holes in the hull that would be useful 🤣🤣🤣
  13. I’m looking at a through hull transducer https://www.cactusnav.com/simrad-totalscan-thru-hull-transducer-with-medium-high-chirp-p-27181.html?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvJud_qD4ggMV1cLtCh339Qd1EAQYASABEgI4XPD_BwE Im on a pod with outboards so stern Mount won’t be useful for me as I’ll be looking to motor at 10-12 knots looking for bird/whale for the tuna before dropping to 6knts when trolling. Its the drilling a hole in my hull I’m dreading 😬 I may get it done professionally as it’ll likely need a faring block unless I get it right on the keel….
  14. @JDP Thank you 🙂 much appreciated! looks like it’s a new 3 in on through hull transducer and NSS EVO3S 12 inch on order soon… still keeping an NSE12 for navigation as it works fine so that’ll save me a few ££££… Now to rob a bank to pay for it all 🙄
  15. Ok…. More questions! Is structure scan worth it? I don’t do a huge amount on the reefs and no wrecking. So…. Does a good chirp sonar do a good enough job? I think this is one for @JDP Due to the costs I’m wondering whether a high quality chirp transducer would give me enough detail without needing downscan…. I’m thinking a B75 Airmar transducer and either sonar hub or new NSS Evo 3s MFD to go with my NSE12….
  16. Sad times 😞 I did think about bringing my boat back this weekend as the weather is good but the fishing doesn’t justify the costs…. So will haul it out for the winter instead
  17. Sidewinders, slugs, feathers anything really
  18. Most of Bristol Channel is now suffering from cod fever and the quest to find a unicorn but I had other plans… Lovely little weather window yesterday so had to make the most of it. Plan was to try inshore for tuna and head out to reefs to see if any life about. Sadly no tuna showing but the reefs were alive with fish. Mainly polllack in 4-5lb class with some bigger, best going just under double figures. Also a few coalfish to 5lb as well. Managed, scad, mackerel, Ballan and cuckcoo wrasse, pollack, coalfish and pouting for the day 🙂 great fun on light gear 🙂 Now looking to get out on Saturday 🤔
  19. Ok… If I was to stick to Simrad I could go single 16in to go with existing 7inch as well or 2 x 12in…. there is a chance I may move over to another brand and that would be 19 inch high resolution screen with a 12in low res for radar… but that’s undergoing discussion. Sadly the cost of moving over entirely to Raymarine or Garmin is not going to work due to the radar and backbone costs the research continues…. Still need to work out to how to best fit in all on the helm 😬😬
  20. Black Fridays coming up, I’ve seen a few tackle companies have got various deals out. Rokmax 10% off veals have some deals too. I’m sure many others have 🙂 anyone found any hot deals? 🙂
  21. Away for Emma’s birthday…. Saturday looks perfect for a tuna trip… always the same 😭😭😭
  22. I do like my Simrad gear. My main issue I’m looking to upgrade my transducer. My MFD doesn’t support latest generation tech so I may need a new MFD. As for a tax dodge, nope just investing in the boat. Want to increase catch rates, find better marks, find more fish on wrecks/reefs. Having a better sounder will hopefully help this and provide better value for customers. Want to make sure I’m doing my best to find them the best fishing possible. It’s been a great year, but want to cons back bigger snd better next year 🙂
  23. Yep…. I’d stick with Simrad over Lowrance as Inknoe the Simrad gear
  24. So…. Open the debate…. Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad or Humminbird? im looking at 2 12Inch displays, new transducers (chirp, downscan, structure scan), radar…. Maybe AIS as well… I may also need a deck mounted 9inch screen or potentially an IPad via WiFi to main set ups…. not sure if I’m going ahead as trying to cost it all up…. It’s scary numbers 🤣🤣🤣 but as it’s quiet in here…. Let me know what’s best and why 🙂
