  1. The higher your radar the better. This will mean that you see further ahead with less near field interference. An arch allows you to get it higher above your cabin etc. It’s also a useful area to add nav lights, anchor lights, etc
  2. There is a lovely Orkney Pilothouse 20 with good condition trailer in Swansea for 15k. Engine only got 180 hours on it and just been serviced. If you’re keeping it on a mooring, you can sell trailer and have a bargain boat...
  3. Once I tad a large tope/small porgie take a huge amount of line on TLD5 abs then snag me. Hopefully it’ll last a few years but if that happens I don’t want to have to come home as out of line.... At least I got spare now. Latest shipping estimate from eBay.... 19th March 🤔🤔🤔
  4. Cool 😎 Ive always had 2nd hand gear so getting some new rods is a new experience.... just hope someone keeps her mitts of them 😬😬😬
  5. Yep! It’s amazing what you can land on a good uptider and a 12-20lb.... However, it is nice to have nice rod to use as well..

    Lead Moulds

Gemini moulds are great. Buy the parts direct from Wes at Gemini in bulk and you’ll get a good discount 🙂 I made 150 in last lockdown, still got another 2 Gemini moulds in case I need to make more
  7. Just heard from Stan. Poor guy been in hospital quite a bit this year. Apologised for delay on my rods abs will hopefully get them done in Dec/Jan. Hopefully have a raft of new kit to start year now... Look out on the classifieds as I shift the old stuff 🤣

    Lead Moulds

Gemini Mould (2-8oz) Adjusti Mould (2-10oz) very little use, £20 the pair posted. Geminingreat for beach leads and uptide leads
  9. No connectors.... solder it abs shrink tube over the top. Main issue will be the screening. Got to make sure it’s connected all the way through
  10. I used it before no issues, but got 6 reels to reload up so will keep me busy over lockdown. Also will have spare in case I need to change mid season after all this spring/summer wrecking and reefing I’ll be doing mixed in with a bit of tope fishing 😆
  11. I hope so, I’ve just ordered 2km of 24lb braid 😬
  12. Pop up next year, I’ll take you out to the soup kitchen 🤣

    COVID

Well it’s bah humbug in Wales 🤣
  14. Agree about the gold black Kenzaki. Bit floppy for my taste. Ugly stick GX2 are good. Ive ordered x2 Shimano Vengeance Slim. £95 delivered. I’ve got the 6-12 for breaming and bass so ordered the 12-20 as well. Lovely tippy action. Uptide rods: Team Daiwa Uptude. Best ever made. Abu Suverean lovely too. I also have a twin power 12-20. Poky rod. Got a thing for shimano rods and old Daiwas. Not the newer stuff....
  15. Spectra braid bring this stuff.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392359465339 Just checking as will order some to spool up reels. Then attach dog biscuits on the end and go fishing for Daisy the dog 😂😂
  16. Not quite, it’s like having a mooring where you are tied up bow and stern. Works best if wind is blowing side against tide.
  17. I got the same issue out sharking. My bit is 30ft so close to 10m. It’s a fast planing hull with a large cabin so spins quite a lot. Swells are fine with long period. Last trip our sharking there was a nice 2m swell coming through. It was fine. Chop is nasty.... I’ve wondered about a drogue. I can’t see it not working. Ive found I sort out most issues by changing angle of outboards 🙂
  18. Tommo done ok on selworrhy recently. I had a few doubles out of there last year. Mike Webber also doing ok there. Very patchy thoigh more rays on selworthy to keep things interesting
  19. Nice fishing! some better lumps out off Minehead way now 🙂 @jonnyswampmaybe an option for Tuesday. Fish west of Minehead, underneath the cliffs, big cod and big blondes around there 🙂
  20. Head up to the English Welsh over low, head up East towards Portishead coral over high once you get some more water 🙂
  21. That’s what I use 🙂 When fishing out of Cardiff it would usually be in about 60ft of water max. So just let out of the rode until the clean stuff came out the locker and you’d be fine. Water so silty white rode goes brown
  22. Look good from the pics, service them over lockdown and load with braid 🙂 One is a LH so I’ll finally get my Saltist back now!
  23. Oh be careful searching ropes and chains on google..... 😉 Rode is your anchor line, it’s not called rope. White is standard colour. It’s worth splicing/painting markers every 10ft so you know how much you got out relative to depth. I don’t bother now as I can kind of guess through experience
  24. Other option is to buy fishy’s anchor set up. This will get you started for a good price. if you need more anchor rode then try MarineScene. They have off cuts at low prices. You can always splice 2 together to give a longer line. I use 3 strand 12mm easy to splice. I use marinescene off cuts for my dock lines. Splice a loop, cut to length and your away, lots cheaper. Once worn out (yes they do wear, stretch and fray on ends unless you backsplice) can use as fender lines or bin. As above, minimum 1x boat length of chain preferably 1.5 x boat length. Check your splices every few month, they can fray and you don’t want to tighten on anchor and it go ping! Look out on Facebook for chain, you can get some real bargains but it must be Galv. Stainless won’t be cheap but will be shiny 😉
