  1. Out on the reefs and in the haven. Emma wants some fish for the freezer. Im hoping to get to the smalls lighthouse and reefs but will depend on swell. Else local reefing then get the anchor down
  2. Aren’t mackerel unicorn fish? I had 1 this year..... mover a hundred sharks, one mackerel 🤔😬
  3. Hi all, Does anyone use an electric heater and timer switch connected to mains to keep condensation down in boats? I will get a fan heater to warm boat up and for winter overnights as I nearly froze on Weds... Other ideas welcomed 🙂
  4. I thought it was a real nugget of a thread.....
  5. Transponder is useful but not everyone has one. Radar you pick up a lot of boats and obstacles. id prefer radar but AIS is useful too.... depends on budget and where you fish. I do a lot of miles anf a lot of offshore work too
  6. This is an AIS transponder.... youll need a splitter, and extenal gps antenna but for £50 it’s a cheap AIS setup
  7. Can you send a link to it? I can’t find it
  8. It’s also important that as part of the col regs you should use all available means of collision avoidance. If you have radar you’re expected to know to use it abs have it running.....
  9. If you are serious about going offshore then yes it’s very useful... but only if you use it and know how to use it. First of all get a good radar reflector. Echo max are the best. There is no point in looking if others can’t see you. I would consider AIS if you don’t want to go the full Radar route, but not everyone uses it. It was foggy in the haven yesterday, with AIS and Radar I was happy to run at 18knots in the haven and 20+ once on open coast. Without Radar I’d be 8-10knots. It’s a tool, but make sure you can use it before you get waste money on a toy...
  10. Have you checked the bins? I think that the newer IMAX smocks are similar?
  11. Well I think that this has been an EGSHELLant thread 🙂 Even if it’s ruffled a few feathers
  12. Does that include a trailer? A mate of mine is looking for a 165 but wants to trail it
  13. I nearly chickened out of posting the original joke due to some fowl feedback on past jokes. However, it seems that this was quite a coop 😉
  14. Yep! It’s late in the season but who dares wins! Only didn’t win 🤣🤣🤣 No sharks today
  15. I’ll have to shell out for a new joke book
  16. Some real fowl comments here....
  17. Go on..... Daiwa Amourpjous whisker.... built by British factory for British fishing..... 😉
  18. I saw it on eBay and suggested it. I was going to buy it for Emma as she is a leftie
  19. I guess you have a lot of OVERHEADS in the scaffolding game 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  20. Here you go..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193752099667 Classic rod, I’d be tempted myself if I wasn’t skint!
  21. Kenzaki good rod Shimano AX slim Abu Suverean 20-30 Century 20-30 Some are more expensive than others but a good selection.... Failing the tan old ugly stick 15lb class or 20lb class with the glass tip are lovely too. Ive picked up an old Shimano Twin Power 12-20lb. It’s a cracking rod, old but light and powerful 🙂 If you got cash to burn look out for a Daiwa Amphorus whisker 12-30. Stunning blanks but old... hard to find and highly sought after but come up on eBay
