As above…. Small hook (size 2) but of worm on it and hopefully you’ll get a whiting. This tied to an 8/0. this is what we used to use for the cod in the Bristol Channel from the shore when we had lots of big cod. There was a guy called Mike Jones who caught 30lb+ cod off the shore at Ogmore deeps doing this. I once gaffed a 28lb cod off Swansea breakwater as a kid by an angler doing exactly the same thing. It was a tactic widely used on Dungeness back in the day when there were big cod to be caught…

What was noticeable was that jigs out fished “normal” feathers by a wide margin…. Its certainly got me thinking about SPJ and running dedicated SPJ trips next year….

Sadly the weather window was shorter than planned…. It flattened off at lunchtime but it was bit of a washing machine when we first headed out. Fair dos they soldiered on and had some good sport 🙂 Final count was: Scad, dogs, poor cod, pout, coalfish, pollack and wrasse. So not too shabby given the circumstances and time of year. I managed to enjoy a lovely bit of pollack for tea last night and lot more in the freezer 🙂 Was great to have the guys out, sadly not quite what we had planned but maybe next time can find something with big teeth for the guys 😁 2024 diary is open…..

Talica 25, Talica 50 and the 2 50Ws would be lovely… especially if git tide to match…. im kt sure on the duty how they work it out… as from memory if it’s a gift it dies t attract duty. I’m not sure on 2nd hand gesr if that attracts duty or not 🤔 Sadly I don’t know if anyone heading g over to Aus else they’d be given a shopping list!

The tuna season will close in a few weeks so I’m already planning on 2024 so if you could keep me in mind that’d be awesome 🙂 Hereford is only 1 hour away so pretty close really 🙂 Unless I can convince Emma that I need a buisness trip to Australia to collect some fishing gear 🤔😁😁😁😁

Happily have a Tiagra as well 🙂 They are in short supply in U.K. Shimano had supply chain issues so took a long time to get stock and forgot about adding them to the list 🤣 80W is fine too just usually more ££££ and being the poor Welshman I have shallow pockets!
