Malc Posted August 1 Share Posted August 1 We get grey Gurnard up here in the NE in the summer and I am grateful for being corrected when I posted a picture up that I originally thought was a red. The top is deffo a grey, but the bottom looks more like a tub, but I see no blue outline on the pecks, so I will go with grey. We catch a lot of grunters here, with tubs going to 4lb. Yes, definitely a tub, but I couldn't see that in the original pic, although it looked like a tub. Tub and Grey are most common, followed closely by the Red, much less common is the streaked. As Andy says dark spot on back of dorsal fin is the giveaway on a Grey, TUb has blue edges to pec fins, and A Red is very Red with bright orange eyes well done!
