Last tip of the year yesterday on White Waters from Neyland, We made the decision to go after sharks and tuna so a stop on the reef soon had a baitwell full of scad. When we arrived at our destination there was a lot of life out there and expectations were high. We had tuna round us for around 4 hours but no takes and even the sharks were absent. Loads of dolphins, Minke and Fin whales, it really was alive out there. Pity the predators didn't want to play ball. Eventually we had a shark in the slick but it just sniffed a float then tangled the line and bit through the leader, bugger. On quick hit on a livebait that failed to hook up and that was it. Whilst waiting we did fish baits on the bottom and had the most species we have ever had out there whilst sharking, tally for the day was macky, scad, launce, weever, spurdog, dogfish, whiting, haddock and a bass. Couple of stops on the way back in on a few busts but they weren't interested either in our livebaits, poppers of soft lures. Still a great day out at sea but that is probally it for me for toothy critters for this year.

Unlucky mate, at least you enjoyed it. Gear up ready for next season!
