Odyssey
Been and done as weather too windy down here! Now watching for the next weather/work window finger back out there…. Won’t be long before it’s time to start planning a trip east to Cardiff for the winter cod. That’s if we don’t go into another lockdown
Andy135
A non-event for me sadly. Got out of the harbour and found that one of my trim tabs has seized, again. Suspect the lower ram seals have gone, allowing water to seep in and seize the motor. A replacement unit is now on the cards, but still a pain to lose a day's good weather. moonlighter
Andy, That's a b****r. Having been given a day off work (the first time in 3 weeks) I am planning to getting out tomorrow, Monday, from Littlehapton. Due to the tide times it's going to be a short day and with winds from an Easterly quarter, I'm not holding my breath on catching loads but it should just be good to be out there. I'll let you know how I do (or don't) get on. Tight lines, John Andy135

Keep us posted on your outing tomorrow. What species will you be targeting? As you say, it's always good to be out. 👍
Andy135
New trim tab actuator ordered this morning. Will do a quick thread on how to replace them when it arrives and once I can get down to the boat again.

I've run without it before and found it to be a chore running like that, so instead of persevering on what was only supposed to be a short afternoon session anyway I went back in to practice my berthing while the drystack pontoon was empty. Moral of the story - buy twin o/b's... Odyssey

I mean you’re boat is basically knackered now and there’s only dogfish on south coast so May as well go the whole hog and do it properly 😉 Geoff and Andy135

Loads of deck space. I still don't like the way they slam though, they tend to land a bit heavy.

One of the reasons why Ribcraft did not mount my engine dead centre. It is fitted about 35mm to the starboard side. I guess they must have a calculation for that distance being as my boat has been manufactured since the late 80’s Even under full throttle acceleration the boat runs as flat as a witches tit. Odyssey
Thinking of an exploratory session for big beagles and Threshers…. Dan Hawkins from Ilfracombe has had 3 threshers in 3 days out of porgie alley…. I’m tempted to see if we have a porgie alley locally to me. It’s same ground and should be pollack and mackerel for then to munch on…. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Dicky
Luke i think you could be right, i reckon there will be more threshers within 6-7 miles off the heads than 30 miles offshore. Edited September 7, 2021 by Dicky
