Flippin' eck! That's a session worth getting of bed for. Top dangling that - kudos to your mates, they're on fire!

That's probably about 10 years worth of catches for me... think pout instead of cod, naturally 🙄🤣

We were looking forward to a trip up to Essex to fish on Janie, but after the invite @JonC uninvited the SLT. So, Leo and I are off to Lymington this morning to see what we can catch!

After the shock of the uninvite I've decided to give up sea fishing. Today I'm out fly-fishing instead.

Been out on the river today to give the tohatsu a shake down run. Couple of minor issues to sort but overall happy with how it went.

Now I know it works, will give it a full service and impellor kit then get the old mariner sold.

Nice to be out, met a guy with a brand new Terhi 440, nice looking little boat too

Oh well, going out on my mates (Alan) offshore 25 tomorrow. Our intention is to fish the wrecks that are 40 - 55 miles out due SE. It will be a long day, 7 to 7.

Could be a good day, or could be a less than average day. This time of the year it is all or nothing. I will be 99% SPJ for the day.

Cant do live reporting as we will be out of GSM coverage for most of the day.

Will look forward to that report then. Be good to see how the pensioner can handle a 12hr jigging sesh.
I'm land locked all weekend with the new dog who arriving in 25 mins. 🤣

🖕

I suspect I will also get press ganged to do helming duties for part of the day, but it will nice to concentrate on the fishing.

My tackle box weighed 60kg when I took it off the boat an hour ago, it now weighs 77kg, as I will need a good supply of 200g jigs.

Which part of ‘feck off’ did you to need to explain to him 🙄

I’m picking my wife up from the marina bar later, so I will have to double check it at about midnight, and I’m going out about 5 tomorrow morning 🤣🖕

You'll probably need to have it on tick over for 20 mins before you slip the mooring.

I’m going to stick my nose out in the morning for a couple of hours, hopefully the big tides will push a few fish into the river.
I’ve been down tonight and run the engine up as I still have the cold starting issues and to put some garminge update  on which has changed the whole setup which I’ve just got used to.
I don’t have the disdain for the wafi community as acutely as some, but I can see why- a bloke on a large sailing yacht came over and asked me to shut my engine down as the smoke was going in his windows 🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣 What a tool! What sort of person feels entitled enough to ask a stranger to stop what they're doing just to please oneself?!? 🤦‍♂️

I didn't know they had a factory, I just thought they emptied the dog shite bins into plastic pots 🤮😇🤔

There is a factory yes, I used to walk the dog around there, explains why there were so many dog 💩 bins 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It was a wet weekend which didn't stop the group of kids we took to the snow chasing trout, biggest went 7lb but some far bigger fish were lost.

From the mountains back to the ocean was also very eventful (stressful). From big seas, great white, blown air hose on one of the divers, water hose blown on the honda 🤨 its been a crazy few days. Anyone who is using the big Honda's, be sure to check if yours has a known issue with these hoses as the water pressure will fill inside the cowling in seconds. The water also destroyed one of the coils and will no doubt have follow on issues in the future from the saltwater.

Kin'ell, I will have to put this here as there was no catch to report ! 🙄

Went out with Brother in law James this morning. We were hoping to go out to the 20 - 30 mile wrecks, but the sea state had other ideas, and although we ere still able to do 22kts, it was just not quick enough for a morning session as we had to be back lunchtime for the tide and the school run. To do that run and get some quality fishing time in, then I need to be doing 26 - 30kts.

When leaving the slipway, we noted that the water was quite brown and there was a lot of foam / scum floating around, this normally indicates May bloom has taken hold good and proper, so my hopes of good inshore fishing were quickly diminishing !

We went to 4 inshore wrecks, covered 27nm and neither of us even got a tap on the lures. Even at 9 miles out, the water clarity was pretty grim, and I lost sight of the lure at about 3ft down. The water was that Bloom green / brown colour with those millions of silver flecks that you associate with a prominent algae bloom. It looks like the bloom is now in full swing, especially as the water temp has risen to 14C.

In desperation, on the last inshore wreck, I tried baited tinsels, the bottom 2 with squid and the top 2 with mack, but even this didn't provoke any response at all.

IIRC, this is the first blank for 3 years ......... not too shabby I suppose.

No shame in a blank, especially if your last one can be measured in years not weeks! Suggest you do post it as a Catch Report as it's healthy to post the blanks as well as the successes. If nothing else it gives noobie lurkers a more realistic view of boat angling 👍
