JDP Posted June 2, 2022 Share Posted June 2, 2022 Been so long since I had my own boat out, headed out at the weekend and a thermostat kept sticking, forcing the motor to shut down. Not good to have the engine cut out crossing a bar with big swell, got home and went down with the poxy Covid but starting to get my head back into another session this weekend. GPSguru Posted July 4, 2022 Share Posted July 4, 2022 Well, hopefully I will be out tomorrow with grandson Kyle as crew. He has finished exams so off school now until 6th form in sept. unfortunately, I had left Battery 1 turned on (1st time I have ever done that) so after almost 4 weeks of sending my AIS, it is flat, but the smart charger is not detecting any ill will from the battery, so it should be fully charged by the morning. No plans yet as to where we are going, I don't really want to be out of mobile coverage at the moment, but if the sea is good, then I might just sneak out to the 30 mile wrecks for an hour, but I lose vodafone at 12miles. I have been away commercially fishing for a few weeks though and glad our quota is now filled so I can get back to dangling a line again. Tried to get out on the kayak last week but I have been having problems with my thumb joint so bottled it. Hopefully the codling are still about and the mackerel will like the settling weather too, Mmmmmm smoked mackerel ! The swell has dropped from yesterday when my daughter managed to get out in her zodiac but I’m not as desperate to get out as her!!!!…not much wind though. At the moment, time is a premium, so we probably won't be able to stay as long as we would like to. I think the inshore wrecks are still netted, so maybe we will try for mackerel or visit some rough ground. wreck netting seriously annoys me, utter greed for the bass ☹️, even the line caught commercials are peed off with it.
