mike farrants
might be a silly question, but Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to protect my gunwale from the anchor chain - if dropping and lifting on my own I don't want to roll the chain over the wooden gunwale - and lifting at arms length is tough... I was thinking a plastic sheet bent over the side, and then i could lift and lower slowly and more controlled? maybe a 5 gal drum cut? any good ideas? TIA Edited March 30, 2021 by mike farrants

Andy135
As @andydavysays, a piece of sheet stainless would work well, and look more professional than a cut drum.
DINOBOY
How wide if the gunwhale? When I had wood I just cut a slot out of a 4” soil pipe and put it over you can get the pipe up to 9”.

OrkneyCorkney
Building sites and farmers are a good source of wide diameter land drain pipe (although many famers believe the two foot of pipe abandoned in their yard is gold plated - haggle 🤣 )
